For god sakes people.... The history of Undecideds clearly indicate that they are kryptonite to the incumbent. Do you really think that Dubya can dig into them? Not a fucking chance. Bush is done, Kerry's only beginning.

1. Well, just the fact that there ARE undecideds speaks volumes. I can't
believe ANYONE would consider Bush.

The media will play a huge role in this, and we need to hold their feet to the fire as much as anyone else's.

2. I agree....
But undecideds usually don't go for the incumbent. Dubya has no record to attract them...

3. its like buying a house
Edited on Sun Aug-29-04 06:22 PM by xray s
you know you hate the apartment you are in, but you want to make sure you make the right move. So you drive the real estate agent nuts by being 'undecided' until you can feel comfortable about the new place...and then BOOM, the deal is done and everyone is smiles :):)

The debate will be the BOOM. You just watch and see.

5. We MUST NOT Count on the Undecided Vote!
If they haven't figured out by now that Booosh is no good,
they won't in the next two months.

They will have an October surprise cooked up to bring them back into the fold.

We have to register enough new Democratic voters to make up for the "undecided" voters
who are really Boosh voters at heart(less) who just need any excuse to go back to him.

> The history of Undecideds clearly indicate that they are kryptonite to the incumbent

In our history the media has never been so solidly in the Rethugs' pocket.
The old rules no longer apply.

6. I agree 100%
We can't bank on undecideds, even though they typically go for the challenger. This is an unusual year, in that we have an incumbent who can play the 'terra' card and get a 2-5 point bump whenever he feels like it.

We have to work hard to get out the definite Kerry voters first, and try to make sure that every Democrat on earth votes for the Dem candidate and doesn't fall for these phony alerts and terror threats and other scare tactics.

If the undecideds are going to break for the challenger, as so many claim, then why worry about attracting them? If we work hard to keep Kerry as high in the polls as possible, then they will vote our way anyway. ?

14. I'm pretty much in your corner on this
I think the "undecideds" are the most likely to take an October surprise as a reason to vote for the current unelected, fraudulent, murderous profiteers in occupancy of the WH. If the past four years have left them undecided, they WANT to vote for the incumbent, and all reason will depart at the first sign of a crisis.

I am more hopeful at the numbers of new voters people are registering, and the crowds Kerry is drawing which could portend higher turnout. (Is my memory faulty in not remembering Politicians in other Presidential campaigns drawing crowds this size? The media seem quite blase about it, for which of course there are other possible explanations that that crowds of 10,000 are "normal.")

7. Here is what Swing the Vote is doing with undecideds in NH...
through canvassing, we are identifying them. Then we are asking them what their major issues are, then we are writing fliers that specifically address these issues, then we will get back to them.

Every vote in this election will count...from yours to your grandmother's to the people next door to the undecideds...every goddamn last vote!!!

8. I wouldn't pin my hopes on the myth of the undecideds
You are talking about the sort of morons that try to get on a jury of a high profile case by saying they have never heard of it. Jacko? Who is he? Kobe? Never heard of him!

Anyone that is undecided about Bush at this point in time must have the intellectual capacity of a flea.

12. That is a pretty snotty thing to say!
I have talked to many "undecideds" and they don't have brains the size of a flea...they are truly wrestling with this election and they don't need to be ignored or insulted.

10. my rant about the "undecideds
In my voting history.it seems like the "uns" voter is the one who holds the election in its hands.....

and for years...the interviews....the 15 minutes of fame has spotlighted the "uns"..............I am kindof a sick of the "uns"............for 4 years they have seen what bush has done to this country.....but wait.......we still pander to the the "uns"

We want the candidates to woo us......we want the news media to spotlight us...we hold the rest of the country at bay.......because we can..we are the "uns".........and I would bet my bottom dollar that most of the "uns" don't show up at the polls........

13. clearly undecideds move to the challenger by 2-1 or more
so yes, that is a hope. But, as has been indicated before there are fewer undecideds in this election than in many other elections. The electorate as a whole either favors Bush or doesn't.

15. F the undecideds. They need to lead, follow, or get out of the way.
If they haven't figured it out by now, I doubt they ever will. We need to register new voters and move on.

16. My take on them
is that they already don't like Bush but haven't been sold on Kerry yet. My guess is IF they vote at all, most will go Kerry or Nader. Some may swing to Bush if there's an "October" surprise.

We just have to make sure they understand the true nature of Kerry.

19. The few undecideds
I have spoken with are not undecided between Bushwa and Kerry. They are undecided between Kerry and an "anybody else but Bushwa". Most have indicated a likelihood that they will vote, however. They are concerned with the discrepancy between "lib" Kerry and the right swinging DLC. The question is "What can we expect if Kerry - is elected-a lib/prog program or more corporate DLC agenda?"

17. Are the "undecideds" a sub-set of "likely voters"?
In other words, are they only counting the people who have voted before? Where in this equation are all the new voters? Aren't they a much larger group that the g-d "undecideds"?
