During Election 2000, I repeatedly told everyone who discussed politics with me that George Bush* was not qualified to run the Country. Of course, one of the standard replies was that he was a two-term Governor of Texas. Al Gore has only served in Congress and the Senate, and had never run a State (sound familiar).
The State of Texas is not actually run by its governor; the Lieutenant Governor handles that. Being governor is mainly a PR position. The truth of the matter was that Bush* had literally no experience to prepare him to sit in the Oval Office.
A very wealthy Republican responded to me that my position was nonsense. Bush* would surround himself with the smartest of people to advise him. "And what happens when they disagree," I asked. Does he have enough experience to make an intelligent decision on his own when forced to do so, when forced to decide which adviser to listen to when conflicting information is given him." The wealthy Republican simply walked away. When the preeminent attack on Iraq erupted, I thought of that day and that question.
Today, I heard that line used to justify having Palin serve as Vice President because she will be surrounded with extremely smart advisers to brief her on foreign affairs, etc.:eyes:
Perhaps we should start a comprehensive list of similarities between Palin and Bush*:
#1 - Prefers to bully the opposition as opposed to negotiating. Full of bluster.
Take it.
