McCain Disses Kerry;"grown weary" of Kerry; "really likes" Bush
Edited on Mon Aug-30-04 06:36 AM by Catt03
McCain disses Kerry in this article by Mark Leibovich, WP, John McCain Comes In From the Cold.

I think McCain's remarks are insensitive and dismissive.

snip

"But there has been a marked shift in the warmth with which McCain has discussed Bush in recent weeks -- and, more subtly, in how he talks about Kerry. While much has been made of their friendship, McCain, according to sources close to him, has grown weary of Kerry's constant mentions of it. He publicly objected to Kerry's reference in a recent ad to Bush's campaign tactics against McCain in 2000. (Kerry promptly pulled the ad.)"

Asked if Kerry has overstated the closeness of their bond, McCain says, "Yes and no."

snip

"Yes, in that we've spent a lot of time working on issues, flying to Vietnam, doing a lot of that kind of professional Senate work," McCain says. "No, in that I've never socialized with him. I've never been to his house for dinner. We've never invited him out to Arizona."

1. I think his appeal
among independants has been overstated a bit. After all, Kerry has had the lead in many polls among independants and moderates even with McCain campaigning for Bush.

McCain may help Bush among Bush leaning moderates and independants but I think democrats look kind of pathetic when they try to mention his name so much. I remember how Lieberman did that during the primaries and it was just sad. McCain defended Kerry's service. That's nice, but it's not really a big deal. I suppose nowadays if a republican doesn't tow the party line on every issue some democrats will start heaping praise on them.

Leave him be. We have a great VP in Edwards. We have a good chance in winning as well. Forget about McCain.

5. And I've grown weary of John McCain.
I once thought of him as a rarity--a Republican with a conscience & an independent voice. Guess I was wrong. Looks like a lap dog from where I'm sitting. What did george promise you?

6. Kerry always talked about the Senate work when talking about McCain
he never said anything about going to each others homes or any of that type of stuff. and it's something he should continue doing since it's about public policy and something he should use to help him win the election.

7. I hope this is a wake up call to those that still support McCain.
What more can be said about a man who had his name, wife and children dragged horribly thru the mud causing him to lose the primary. This is the same man that now exchange forehead kisses and huggy bear embraces from shrub. It is all very sickening!:puke:

10. McCain has lost a lot more than a run for president....he has lost
all respect from anyone in the middle....I have grown very tired of him and watching him fawn over the evil dictator. Anyone who supports bush is someone I will never support.

I will remember those who were for this evil man and his cronies..... they are the ones who are bringing this hilter on....

11. Maybe McCain would rather have a beer with Bush...
...but THAT DOESN'T QUALIFY that fraud to be President. Sorry John, your dinner guest list doth not make for the qualifications to lead this nation.
