Have the Repugs posted their platform?
I saw bits and pieces on the news - the ones on abortion and same sex marriage amendments were really out there. No ambiguity there. I just don't know if it as been accepted. The moderate speakers they have lined up to speak this week are no where in line with what the platform is supposedly going to advocate.

There is disagreement with some delegates and the platform committee for going all squishy on some issues. Ticked off at Cheney for not coming out for the marriage amendment. Evidently they don't have the same mental "agility" to understand the committee is just saying one thing in prime time but not to worry - just read the fine print and you will know what is really going on.

I'm trying to come up with a word that is stronger than liar or hypocrite. Any suggestions?

2. I don't know why they won't come right out
and say it--We want to restrict civil rights to a certain section of the country. We want to deny basic rights to a certain group of people. This is just further proof why I left the party of Mean.

4. Check out their 2000 Platform and how Bush used it to wipe his ass.
This year, the platform is: Whatever George Bush does is OK with us.

5. The Washington Post had a summary in their convention guide.
Sunday they had an overview of the convention, including the GOP platform, which included plans for a constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage and one to ban abortion.

Other "highlights" include:

*Opposition to a national gun registry

*Favoring the extension of the USA Patriot Act

*Plans to make the tax cuts of the past few years permanent

*The hare-brained notion that we can manage federal deficit under the current plans to cut taxes and whatever else Bushie-poo wants to do.

Okay, so no one, not even the Post, called Bush "Bushie-poo." But you know what sort of retching and hurling the GOP platform is bound to produce in Democrats throughout the land.

I think a lot of us would like to send letters to the editor
regarding what the Republican party platform says.

Do moderate Republicans agree with this
platform? I don't think so.

And you thought his first term was a nightmare
What Bush has planned for America if he wins.
- - - - - - - - - - - -
By Charles Tiefer

Aug. 25, 2004 | .... Under Bush's slogan of an "ownership society," the Republicans intend a long-term effort, using changes in Medicare, Social Security and taxes to pit better-off and worse-off Democrats against each other, offering all-but-irresistible incentives for some to desert the others -- and any progressive national coalition. .... A second-term Bush agenda will constantly impale Democrats on the dilemma of abandoning their poorer, sicker, older and minority groups, or seeing their better-off, healthier and younger members lured off to the other party. If it sounds like a political nightmare for the Democrats, that's because that's what it is planned to be. ....
