Bloomberg - Doing the dirty work?
MSNBC is showing NYC mayor Michael Bloomberg, speaking at the RNC. I've only been paying attention for about five minutes, and he's already referenced 9/11 and the Olympics.

It's occured to me that not only did the Republicans choose NYC for the convention site to exploit 9/11, they did it so the local Republicans (Bloomberg, Pataki, Guliani, who probably have the only rights to discuss it) can flog it to death so nobody at the Federal level even has to bring it up. So when Democrats complain about the politicization of 9/11, they can say "Neither Bush nor Cheney even discussed it, so clearly Democrats are flailing to attack the president on baseless grounds."

Of course, the chances of Bush not talking 9/11 is slim, but...this seems precisely the kind of political tactic Rove would employ.

1. Prior to 2000, Bloomberg donated almost exclusively to Democrats...
...and in a BIG, BIG way.

3. I love...
How he donated to McCain and Gore, and not Bush, in 1999. Beyond the whole reversal of political interests thing. I think he learned more Republicans vote in NYC than Democrats.
