Fine- if Bush wants to center his campaign around the war on terror,
Edited on Mon Aug-30-04 03:08 PM by BullGooseLoony
then that's where we should attack him.

Attacking Iraq undermined the war on terror by diverting resources, destroying our credibility, helping terrorist recruitment and soiling our good name.

Where's Richard Clarke when we need him?

And don't think we're politicizing the war on terror, any more than the Smear Vets are politicizing military service. After all, Bush ASKED for this.

1. Don't forget about Halliburton trading with Iran
funding terrorism, would be a bad thing.

2. Too many words for a sound bite.
I think Kerry and others have tried to go after bush for the impact of the war in Iraq to no avail. It may be a little late in the game - but I'm all for it.

Start with idiot family members and co-workers - see if they can remember who was the mastermind of 9/11 (you'd be surprised to hear it wasn't bin Laden).

Ask them how many troops are in Afghanistan chasing this SOB and make a comparison between that number and the number in Iraq. Ask them to recite bush's current policy on bin Laden - he doesn't care where he is - not much of a policy for a man who wants to end world terror.

4. Nah, not too many words...
Someone could rattle that off, very passionately, too, in about five seconds. Just memorize it and repeat it over and over.

3. Sigh....
No one listens.

I'm telling you, this is what we HAVE to do.

Of course...Kerry's going to have a lot of trouble arguing this, but we have no choice. This HAS to be done.

And I know a lot of you don't believe in the "war on terror" and all that. But that's not going to fly with the voters.

6. Kerry has been laying the groundwork for this all along
He knew darn well he economy could have improved markedly, and so the best chance to trump Bush was on the WOT.
Interestingly, they indicated a plan to deal with Iran today, so you can see where Kerry wants to elevate the dialogue on what we should be doing, and how he would do it better.
Kerry has left no possibility uncovered.

7. I haven't really seen Kerry challenge Bush
seriously on the issue so far.

I'm patiently waiting.
