What was the building displayed behind John McCain?

Josh Marshall: "And when they panned out to see what the audience in the convention hall saw, it was some unidentified mansion. Like maybe a house they're putting in an offer on? Weird. No idea what that was about."

2. maybe we have a friend running the effects there
martian green background? one of his 7 mansions? For people who are going to protect us from the terrorists, they sure can't protect their own hall from evil "liberals!" it could happen.... They deserved the horrible backgrounds, for making fun of Obama's background

Walter Reed Middle School in North Hollywood, California.

They're still not sure why this pic was displayed on the RNC jumbotron. According to McSame's bio, he attended 20 different schools before the family settled in North Virginia.

To be perfectly frank, I didn't watch his speech that intently. I was trying to stay awake instead. :)

4. That's what gave him the "green" screen....
the grass at the Walter Reed Middle School!

So funny and ironic.

5. I guess that's supposed to be emblematic of his academic achievement.

Strange, though ... I was attending Richardson D. White Elementary School in Glendale, California, at about the same time McCain was attending that school ... not more than a few miles away. Bizarre.

6. Doesn't matter, because television viewers only saw the green screen
that turned blue midway, and they reverted back to that giant flag with the blue sky, when they realized how funky the building looked.

10. What a Boehner!

So, they go to one of the assistant tech guys, and tell him "get us a photo of Walter Reed for McCain's background." The guy goes on Google, types in "'walter reed' photo" and grabs the nicest-looking one..."What? There's more than one 'Walter Reed'?"

(I'm not sure that's really how it went, but it's a good story. Too bad they didn't also have an eighteen-inch-tall replica of Stonehenge lowered from the rafters while they were at it.)
