But I do think my statement is very true.

This is the moment us DEMS have been waiting for.
I hope the Kerry Campaign moves quickly with this one and exposes Shrub as the slime ball , no sack, lying son of a bitch that he is.

We all have known this for years but this is our chance to get those on the fence to realize this.

This is indeed the turning point of the election.

edit: spelling

25. For what it's worth
it was a lead story on the news on NPR this evening, and it was actually presented as a blunder or mistake by *. NPR has really been trending right the past few years and I was surprised. It also stated that Edwards was criticizing * for the statement today.

27. There's no spinning out of this one for Shrub
and the Kerry Camp and all the DEMS need to have Shrub pay big time for this one.

I hope more of the media catchs on to what a fucking stupid blooper this was. But I'm not expecting too much out of the media. They'll probably say that it was just a joke on Shrub's part and they all will start laughing in their fucking stupid little repuke laughs.

Yes. I am pissed.

in the dust? What a great leader he isn't.

8. Freepers finally realize the gravity of this gaffe:
Edited on Mon Aug-30-04 06:19 PM by NewYorkerfromMass
I feel that this is a very bad move and maybe Bush's first serious gaffe this campaign.

Saying we can't win the war on terror is a very pessimistic things to be saying for the President of the United States and gives his opponent the opportunity to be optimistic on the war on terror issue.

I am very interested in seeing how Rove and Co are going to respond to this. From the early convention coverage on the alphabets and the cable nitwits (CNN, MSNBC, hell even Fox), it looks like this is going to be an issue for a while.

I always believed that optimism wins election.. JFK optimism, Reagan's optimism, and hell even Clinton's optimism. No matter how phoney the candidate (i.e. Clinton), a message of optimism always wins, and saying we can't win the war on terror was a major blunder. These middle-ground voters are going to ask themselves why they would want a leader who doesn't think we can win.....

12. it's like that line from F9/11
(paraphrased) "It's not whether or not the war can be won, but rather, creating the illusion that the war will never end..."
Anyone have the exact quote? This totally fits *'s comment.

15. Just setting the stage

for the endless war. The "War on Terror" has no definable
endpoint or even a clear goal. The idea is completely described
in Orwell's 1984. War is Peace.

24. I think Kerry should come out with a statement that
claims that "he has to break his silence during the repuke convention and let the troops know that he KNOWS they can win this war on terror, and that they did their job honorably in Iraq and their success was not castastrophic, but the leadership has been a castastrophic failure." End of conversation, no questions answered.
