"America's mayor" Giuliani to compare * to WINSTON CHURCHILL
Edited on Mon Aug-30-04 06:30 PM by plastic_turkeys
"They ridiculed Winston Churchill. They belittled Ronald Reagan.

But like President Bush, they were optimists; leaders must be optimists. Their vision was beyond the present and set on a future of real peace and true freedom.

Some call it stubbornness. I call it principled leadership.

President Bush has the courage of his convictions.

In choosing a President, we really don’t choose a Republican or Democrat, a conservative or liberal.

We choose a leader.

And in times of danger, as we are now in, Americans should put leadership at the core of their decision.

There are many qualities that make a great leader but having strong beliefs, being able to stick with them through popular and unpopular times, is the most important characteristic of a great leader.

Winston Churchill saw the dangers of Hitler while his opponents characterized him as a war-mongering gadfly.

Ronald Reagan saw and described the Soviet Union as “the evil empire” while world opinion accepted it as inevitable and belittled Ronald Reagan’s intelligence.

President Bush sees world terrorism for the evil that it is.

John Kerry has no such clear, precise and consistent vision."

I am seriously going to be sick.

We have a winner here.

I don't remember that either from my history classes or reading several Churchill biographies.

Rudy is a hypocritical, arrogant asshole just like all the other Repukes.

11. I'm sure his Granddaughter, Emily, is Livid!
I read something on her a few months ago that said she was for John Kerry.

I hope she speaks out against this comparison by the former mayor of NYC.

4. This fictional George W. Bush is quite an impressive character!
This fictional George W. Bush is quite an impressive character!

Unwavering, strong, resolute. A bit hazy on details, but that's OK because you can always trust his gut instincts.

Too bad the REAL George W. Bush is a semiretarded child-man who is isolated and manipulated by his advisors, who have all sorts of insane schemes they're just dying to try out.

25. Would Churchill have sat for 7 minutes knowing his country was
under attack? Bush was so enthralled with My Pet Goat that he endangered the country so he could see how the story ended.

Churchill would have said, "Sorry kids, gotta go be a leader."

The DESERTER is such a dumb fuck.

12. It is entirely appropriate that a chickenhawk like Giuliani would
compare a privileged deserter like * to Winston Churchill. In our debased culture, that such a comparison would go unchallenged and without evoking derisive laughter is also entirely appropriate.

I remember that Winston churchill said at one time that Courage is the only quality a person needs because all the other qualities we prize flow from it.To even think that * has any courage is to debase that quality.Men like Gandhi, Mandela and Churchill had courage.* has the exact opposite, cowardice, as his hallmark quality.

17. Guiliani did get to live the good life
and his father pushed him in politics when he was born.

A family member, was his roommate at Manhattan College. They got into a car wreck one night, Rudy was driving. When Rudy's dad arrived, he wanted the other fellow to take the rap, because Rudy was going into politics and couldn't afford to have a record. The fellow told Rudy's dad to go to hell.

24. Wurzel, it's worse than you think.
It's Bush = Churchill. Not even Guiliani, but... Bush.

You could lose consciousness trying to wrap your mind around that absurdity.

22. Actually.....
Well... Churchill was shown the door by the British people after WWII, great public speaker... but not so great domestic politician. He is also credited with some of the policies that made a real mess of the middle East, esp. Mesopotamia. So in some sense yeah, I can see the parallels between Churchill and Bush the 2nd, both were booted out of office and both made a mess out of Iraq.
