1. My question is: why are they counting the delegates now?
Isn't this usually reserved for the night before the acceptance speech?

I thought the Dems did this at around 11pm on one night. I guess they've got nothing better to do or talk about.

47. They have to nominate Bush tonight or he won't get on some state ballots
States like Mississippi and California (I think there are a few others) have August 31st deadlines for candidates to be nominated and on the ballot. Those first 2 states actually have democratic control of their state congresses (yes, even in Mississippi) so the repukes had to move their nomination to the first night of the convention so Bush could get on the ballot

17. Not me
Although the spectacle of watching all those moderates pretend that their little tin Jesus isn't the most unchristian, stingy, belligerent, incompetent SOB in the history of the presidency would be fun, at least watching the microexpressions.

However, I went out today and rented a bunch of movies I haven't seen before. If I'm going to watch fiction, I'd prefer it to be believable fiction.

20. I am so proud of myself ... I have watched the DEMOCRACY NOW! programming
this morning--and again this evening, sticking to my plan and thinking that I would much prefer watch a repeat of that than any of the Republican Convention, and to my surprise the DEMOCRACY NOW! program was running the second hour of their special two hour program which the station did not run in the morning--as it just ran the regular one hour program this AM.
So, I saw the first hour of their special two hour program this morning, and the second hour of that this evening.

The rest of the day Turner Movies Classis has been running old Esther Williams movies. I have been watching that.

I think I have to give myself a gold star.

I said I wasn't going to watch the RNC, so far I haven't and I don't think I will. I may peek into it the day Bush speaks, although, if I do, I will have the television on MUTE and later check my reactions to his body language against a transcript of the speech just to see how accurate or not the emotions his body language draws out of me are.

I might watch, but my husband won't put it on. Of course, they have news on where he works all day so he's got to deal with some of it. Interestingly, they used to switch between Faux and CNN at his office and he's happily notice that they've recently switched to MSNBC. Not a particularly liberal office, either. I think they just find MSNBC more interesting or accurate or something.
