Why Bush may pull the troops out of Iraq.

Remember polls, political consultants, and dirty tricks?

Right now he may have advisers telling him that if he pulls the troops out of Iraq, he'll win the election, which is probably true.

How many Democrats will get out to vote for war candidates?

Of course pulling the troops out would just be a cynical ploy to hold on to power, and Bush would send the the troops back to Iraq the day after the election.

But I certainly wouldn't put it past these people. If they think it would suppress our vote, they'd do it.

1. Yeah, he can get up and say "our work is done--we're leaving."
And all Kerry would have to say is "...until next time..."

2. Exactly! They will stoop to anything. I believe
some of the polls are wrong. I think many more people will vote for Kerry, but will their votes be counted. The Repubs seem so smug these days I think they have already "fixed" the voting machines.

But they know that they can't get away with it if there's a big enough voter turnout, which looks very likely at this point. So they are searching desperately for ways to suppress the turnout. And that's the most obvious way to do it, which may explain the chimp's recent statements about the catastrophic victory and miscalculations. I think the chimp is dumb enough to pull his punches, and that Kerry and Edwards should have caught on quicker.

On edit: I'm no political analyst, but even I can tell you that if Bush declares peace and Kerry and Edwards are left hanging in the wind calling for more war, a substantial number of Democrats and progressive voters who would never under any circumstances vote for Bush, will simply stay home or will vote for David Cobb.
