2. What a fucking sellout McCain is!!
I used to admire and respect him and it's all gone. He's commenting on a film he's never seen. He's whored himself to Bush and the repukes!

:grr:

4. I agree. I hope a lot of AZ voters think of how unprincipalled he is
when they go to the polls.

5. He sneaked up on McCain beautifully . . .
Asked him a bunch of questions about his views on 9/11 and then so sweetly asked, why he hadn't seen the film.

9. Don't kid yourself, they've seen it. They just don't want
to admit it - I'd bet my next paycheck even Bush has seen it. They are too nosey not to have seen it. Remember, these are the people that want to get in your business any way they can, so they've seen the damn movie.

14. That's what I think too
I can't believe they haven't seen it. I think they just want to make it seem less influential and important. Propaganda. When in fact it is just the truth.

20. Some of them are too cheap to have seen the movie
I think that a lot more repugs will see the movie when they can rent it at half price of a ticket.

Also, they can watch it at home and not be seen in public viewing the movie that will help take down their rotten to the core administration

13. As a bit of an aside, DMM, since I have never had the
opportunity of being this close to the actual brass nuts of a campaign before, might I ask, is it normal for all this out and out falsehood to reign? I have always placed a high value on truthfulness and a minimum of innuendo, except, maybe, for humor. All this deliberate mis-speak has me floored.

16. Good question, and I don't have a quick answer --
I do know that the campaign practices of the Republican party really went into the sewer with the late strategist Lee Atwater, who repented, and called and apologized to people, on his deathbed. Karl Rove picked up where Atwater left off, and I think has scant regard for the truth, or for American political norms and traditions -- which were always far from perfect, but nothing like what we are seeing now from today's Republican party.

17. Thanks for your answer...
It's just that I watch these guys, lying their asses off, and think surely they know they are are lying. And I'm wondering if they feel that the coOuntry is so threatened if tolerant people get in control that it's worth any price to stop it, or if maybe it's just a big game and it is a real giggle about who can tell the biggest whoppers. Or could it be possible they really believe what they are saying? Man, oh man, if that's the case, then the reigns of power really are in the hands of people who are totally off in lala land and we should just eliminate any sort of concept such as perjury 'cause no one could be guilty of it.

19. In the past, the press wouldn't let people get away with
this sort of lying. Nowadays, it's anything goes as long as it gets you attention and/or votes. Unless of course your are a Democrat, then you will be held to the highest standard.

15. too bad only 15 people in the country saw it...
I couldn't believe my ears when I heard him admit that he hadn't seen it, though it wasn't all that suprising because he totally mischaracterized the movie...there was *nothing* in it implying that Iraq was some kind of paradise before the war. Geez, I'm getting pissed off...

23. Right...but...
The thrust of the movie was about the children of the rich avoiding service. I would add that the children in that clip were actually playing and happy; I wonder how they are today?

24. The short sequence simply showed..
..that life in Iraq was "normal." Lived by humans like the rest of us. One thing I always point out when people try to portray the Iraqis as backward, etc. is that Iraq is right in the "cradle of civilization" and people have been living there for thousands of years.

The whole sequence was, what, maybe thirty seconds?
