You said in your speech at the RNC Convention that George W. Bush is a great leader (many times, just in case someone didn't hear it the first three or four). Now, while I agree that there are times when leadership is the most important thing, and even that Bush was a great president in the first few months following 9/11, I'm not sure that you're looking at the big picture, here.
Bush has done an excellent job of stringing along many here in the United States of America, mainly the uninformed and sadistic, with his sloganeering and barroom manner. He has "led" many of those in the United States. I will give you and him this.
But you've forgotten one thing- this is a GLOBAL war on terror. The question is not whether or not he has led the American people in this war, but whether or not he has led both his constituents and the citizens of the WORLD against the threat of terrorism. You and I both know that we can not win this alone. We can not invade every country holding terrorists, and we can't be everywhere at once. It is up to us to make sure that we maintain our moral authority so that when we call upon our friends, past and future, for help, they heed that call willingly and with pleasure.
The saddest part of our needless invasion of Iraq is that I fear that the beautiful sentiment that poured out to us from so many friendly, and even not-so-friendly countries after 9/11 will probably not be there now because of George W. Bush's lack of leadership if we are ever attacked again.
It would be an awfully lonely day. Think about that.
