Kerry vs. Bush & Cheney - A Past President’s Perspective
President Nixon & Staff Praise John Kerry-Excellent Read

The President Nixon - John F. Kerry Years, 1971
White House Transcripts and Tapes
Obtained From the National Archives branch in College Park, Md.

When John Kerry came to Washington in April 1971 to lead a protest against the Vietnam War, his actions drew the attention of President Richard Nixon and top White House aides. As Kerry got more publicity, Nixon told aides that he wasn't worried about the "bearded weirdos" who gathered on the mall, but was quite concerned about the impact of the neat, articulate, and much-decorated veteran from Massachusetts, John Forbes Kerry.

Luckily, Nixon recorded all his meetings, which later lead to his downfall over the Watergate scandals. Here’s a great discussion to gain an insight into Nixon's and his White House staff’s views about John Kerry.

Conversation
President Richard Nixon; Chief of Staff, H.R."Bob" Haldeman; Secretary of State, Henry Kissinger.
April 23, 1971

John Kerry delivered his testimony against the Vietnam War on April 22, 1971. The next day, Nixon had several conversations about Kerry and the protests. At around 9:30 a.m., President Nixon met with his chief of staff, H.R. “Bob” Haldeman, and his national security adviser, Henry Kissinger. The topic was Kerry.

President Nixon: Apparently, this fellow, uh, that they put in the front row, is that what you say, the front (unintelligible) the real star...Kerry.

H.R. "Bob" Haldeman: Kerry. He is, he did a hell of a great job on the, uh --

President: He was extremely effective.

Haldeman: he did a superb job on it at Foreign Relations Committee yesterday. A Kennedy-type guy -- he looks like a Kennedy and he, and he talks exactly like a Kennedy.

Kissinger: (Unintelligible).

President: Where did he serve?

Haldeman: He was a Navy lieutenant, jg., on a gunboat, and he used, uh, to run his gunboat up and shoot at, uh, shoot babies out of women's arms...(COMMENT: Per listening to a certified tape copy of this conversation, Bob Haldeman, who was quite the crusty individual to put it mildly, is making a joke based on the tone of his voice)

President: Oh, stop that. People in the Navy don't do things (like that). That's not what service is in Vietnam, as you well know, Henry, (unintelligible).

Kissinger: That's pretty (unintelligible).

Haldeman: He was only over there for, I thinks it's four months or five months.

President: Bob, the Navy didn't have any casualties in Vietnam except in the air.

Haldeman: Well, this guy got a Purple Heart with two clusters and the --

President: (Unintelligible).

Haldeman: -- Navy Star. He's got a hell of a bundle of lettuce up here.
--END--

COMMENTS: - Presidential Candidates Kerry vs. Bush and Vice President Cheney

1) I/we know many "very important people", however we have not met anyone that in their twenties caused a high level meeting by a U.S. President, Chief of Staff, and Secretary of State, to discuss this person's speaking and presentation skills!

2) The National Achieve historian could not locate any transcripts where senior Statesman’s and historic political figures rendered highly complementary statements, such as reflected above about Senator Kerry, in regards to George W. Bush or Dick Cheney when they were young men in their twenties.

With President G.W. Bush’s questionable National Guard service record, and Vice President Dick Cheney using five (5) deferments to avoid serving in Vietnam, because “he had other priorities”, per below ($$), one can only imagine the comments, 1/3 of a century ago, this Country’s President and his key White House staff members would have expressed concerning these two fine brave men and true patriots!

($$)Cheney Had "Other Priorities" During Vietnam War

Cheney Had "Other Priorities" During Vietnam War. - Vice President Dick Cheney received five deferments during the Vietnam War from 1963 to 1966, a period of heightened American commitment in Vietnam. He later dismissed questions about his failure to serve by simply saying, "I had other priorities in the '60s." (McGrory, Washington Post, 7/27/00; Geyer, Chicago Tribune, 2/6/04; Arizona Republic, 1/22/04)

Cheney and Bush Campaign Distort Record of Cheney's Deferments. - The Washington Post reported in 1991 that Cheney received five deferments, four 2-S student deferments and one under the 3-A classification -- "registrant with a child or children; or registrant deferred by reason of extreme hardship to dependents." In his Senate confirmation hearing, Cheney said he "would have obviously been happy to serve had I been called," which contradicting his earlier statement, "I had other priorities in the '60s than military service." Bush staff members said Cheney received only three deferments, two for school and one for being a new father. (Washington Post, 4/3/91; Des Moines Register, 8/2/00)

The ONLY Presidential Candidate Qualified to Be the Next President of the United States – John F. Kerry

3) In the “excellent and must read” New Yorker magazine article “Damage Control”, by Philip Gourevitch
Issue of 2004-07-26 * http://www.newyorker.com/fact/content/?040726fa_fact

the following was stated about John Kerry:

“Samuel Popkin, a political scientist at the University of California at San Diego, remembers the effect of John Kerry’s testimony in the Senate in 1971, as “second only to Martin Luther King’s ‘I have a dream’ speech.”

COMMENT: I/WE THINK THAT PRETTY WELL SAYS IT ALL ABOUT JOHN KERRY!

The bottom line is, John Kerry almost single handedly took on the Nixon Administration over that totally out of control unwinnable War, exposed it for what it was, exposed the fraudulent Nixon Administration, and Kerry was key in bringing our men and women home in the longest war in this County’s history, that resulted in the death or injury of over 8 million people in Southeast Asia and the international military coalition fighting there.

a. Republican President Nixon tried to totally destroy Democrat John Kerry for his anti-war protesting. He had the FBI on him, planted erroneous information about Kerry, (and what Kerry supposedly publicly stated), for the media to print and slam Kerry…….the whole 9 yards. I mean REAL dirty. Kind of reminds us Bush-Cheney!

Before President Nixon died he made amends with Senator Kerry and asked for his friendship which Kerry agreed. Nixon also told Kerry, in looking back, that Kerry had done the right thing in regards to trying to stop the Vietnam War, he respected him for it, and there was no hard feelings.

b. Senator Kerry has a media video, we presume because the media has it and we have a copy, when he and Nixon met back in the 90’s to mend fences on this matter and close the door once and for all on Vietnam. The media video on their new friendship was NIXON’s idea, not Kerry’s.

c. Nixon’s White House chief legal council and “hitman” Charles “Chuck” Colson, that hired John O’Neill to be a Nixon Administration puppet and mouthpiece against Kerry, also apologized to Kerry in a letter in 1993, for what he had done to him in the 70’s and also said Kerry had done the right thing and hoped Senator Kerry didn’t hold a grudge.

John O’Neill and his key SBVT frauds WELL KNOW the aforementioned FACTS and so does author, television commentator, and “public Kerry basher” Pat Buchanan. Buchanan was a direct aid and speech writer to President Nixon and sat in on several of these meetings involving the discussion of John Kerry, AS DID John E. O’Neill, which is well documented on President Nixon’s tapes of those conversations!

The only people that currently appear to have a major public problem with Senator Kerry’s Vietnam record, and subsequent anti-war activities, are people like Mr. O’Neill, his SBVT members, and Pat Buchanan, all who are receiving compensation to make these fraudulent statements, to affect a Presidential election, which is a serious criminal felony act.

For these total scum to commit criminal acts and try to re-write history with fraudulent statements and assertions needs to be the subject of a criminal grand jury investigation.

The specific intent, with malice, of the Bush-Cheney-GOP-SBVT drama play is to deceive, confuse, and defraud the voting public. Nothing more, and nothing less

1. Thank you for this piece! I'm saving it.
I have a question. Why are B and T Republicans against Bush? I guess I could go and look for a website to find out--I'm hoping to find a quick clue to that question here... Just curious.

Thanx again... SB

2. We have posted several "pieces" on this but will consolidate them
on one thread with all the links for everyone that might have interest.

In short, Bush and Cheney have lost a massive amount of Republican support over the Middle East war, the economy, and the massive corruption that Bush continues to support.

We have been shocked by how many Texas Republican "big players" have turned their back on Bush-Cheney.

Also of interest is the number of Republicans who say for the first time they will not vote for a President come November.

Thanks

3. Man, that's amazing........ I've never seen an election quite like this
one in my entire life (Granny here). Some similarities from other elections, yes, but nothing SO blatantly devisive and dark/corrupt.

Thanx for the input. SB
