7. Well the discussion on Larry King Live,
Edited on Tue Aug-31-04 12:03 AM by Feanorcurufinwe
Jacque Reid, BET anchor, with Cuomo and Simpson, she says Repubs talk in generalities at election time but when it comes down to specifics, like disenfrachisement - will they bring in election monitors, what about affirmative action, if repubs would step up

Simpson: The dems have told them that an never deliver, we get 9% every time so, you don't want to vote for us, you don't care

Larry king: don't beat up on alan

Reid: he's saying they're reaching out and we don't see the hands reaching out

Simpson: black people must be awfully tired of listening to the gibberish from the democrats about what they're doin and they don't do it

Reid: it's hard when a party embraces someone like Trent Lott it's hard for black americans to feel welcome

Simpson: How about Jesse Jackson? You want to talk about hypocrisy? Try Jesse, you got your own, try Sharpton

Reid: (reduced to laughing at him)

He seemed to me to be offended by the idea of these black men having a voice in the Democratic party. And he wonders why blacks don't vote for him. :freak:

9. He fell into a pit of his own making, in other words.
He set out to make a case that Republicans had something concrete to offer African-Americans, and he wound up calling Jesse Jackson "your" hypocrite. Nice. :eyes:

6. Damn, switched the channel...
she should say and "...you people have guys like Tom Metzger..."

And Jesse, on balance, has been a positive force.

8. I love Jesse Jackson. He has done great thing for this party. Plus he is
just a good man. Republicans act as though they have never done
anything wrong and even their wrongs were really right.

11. I saw that exchange.
I was so disgusted. Simpson has not changed a bit. I remember him from the Clarence Thomas hearing when he really went after Anita Hill.
