Time for Kerry to turn the boat toward the shore and the direct fire ?
America is weaker today than we were 4 years ago. America is weaker because we have lost the respect of people around the world, some of them our long-time allies. America is not safer because the policies of this Administration have skimped on the basic needs for the security of our country. Our ports, our firehouses, our policemen, our emergency workers have been left out of the plan.

I ask the American people to think long and hard about who will do a better job of protecting our country. Perhaps 9/11 would have happened no matter who was in the White House but we can all see what has been done since that disastrous day. They hid in secrecy in the White House as the families of many killed on that fateful day begged for an investigation. They fought against it.

No one can guarantee that we will never have another terrorist attack but I can guarantee you that we can do a better job at preparing and defending our nation than this Administration has done. Now they can't seem to make up their mind if they want to win the war or not?
They say we can't change horses in the middle of a stream. We say if the horse is lame and we are carrying valuable cargo, the children of this nation, we had better change horses.

We ask that America look at the record. Look closely at the complete record. Is our nation better off than four years ago? Is America safer? Is America stronger? Our job is to restore the honor and respect of our nation around the world. It is not done by the way this White House handles foreign policy. America is a brave nation. We do not wish to live in fear. We choose hope over fear.

1. Agree
Kerry needs to return fire hard and NOW!

The repubs have the stage and get to spew lies with impunity.

2. He needs to wait a few more days. Good speech start Kentuck.
Kerry has got to hold his fire until the time is right. It will be right after the Repug convention is over, and after Cheyney is sealed as the VP candidate.

Don't fire until you see the red of their satanic eyes!

he is the right leader here. With all the facts, he will make educated and great choices....he did in protesting a war...he did in IRAN/Contra and he will be again...

5. He should go into attack mode and not let up
I would destroy the sob and Kerry needs to do that.

People hate Bush's guts and if Kerry and Edwards goes on an all out attack they would get plenty of press whether negative or not they would both become hero's.

I can't agree with you more you are so right!

6. Kentuck, have you ever written a post without a question mark?
I noticed it early on DU. Every post you ever do is phrased as a question. Just curious is that's a conscious Kentuck signature style.

BTW my answer to this one is yes. Actually it was time to aim his guns last spring as soon as he had the nomination sewed up.

8. A question says so much more than a declarative sentence....
:) Also, because it opens up the subject to ideas that the author may not think of ...

7. The idea is to challenge their perceived strengths....
Charge head on into what Bush thinks is his greatest strength and challenge him on his assumption. This would throw them off guard, to say the least, in my opinion.

9. I ready for some PASSION from Kerry/Edwards...whenever
that "right" time is...hoping it's soon and not too late.

They have to be CLEAR, long winded if need be, passionate, aggressive, determined.........lay out the ways we differ from RWers then give articulate reasons why WE are the better choice.

Get creative; No holds barred!!

10. IMO the time is NOW!
They should use surrogates to prime the general populace for an unrelenting barrage on the strength of the reThuglicans. Time is not on Kerry/Edwards side - the impact of SBVFT ad tells the story. People like Senators Kennedy, Byrd, etc and Bill Clinton, Al Gore, Howard Dean and Wes Clark should be used to lay solid foundation on which Kerry and Edwards can mount on to make later charges on W* and whatever contrived strength the media ascribes to him and his running mate.
