My own morbid curiosity

Anyone have thoughts on what will happen if shrub wins this and it's as close as 2000, with the same kind of bullshit?

I think I would go insane.

1. Maybe I'm nuts, but
a repeat of 2000 - Bush losing the popular vote, and being installed as pResident again - would be preferable to his winning honestly. Although it would be a disaster, it would still allow me to believe that the majority of Americans are still on the right track.
I live in the Netherlands, and I would feel pretty vulnerable here if the rest of the world actually believed Americans support Bush.

2. That could naturally follow-
if one assumes that it was the very worst of the other nations who emigrated to the US, originally.

3. Yeah.

And I think the cable news whores WANT a tied electoral college
and razor thin margins in lots of swing states and court challenges
and the WHOLE mess. That's my number one reason for them to whore
for this idiot for president. Otherwise, he wouldn't have a chance.

The part that drives me insane is that IF shrubya steals it again
(because nobody will convince me he won without cheating), this
may be our last election for a long long time. I really believe
that they intend to do away with anything other than fixed elections
after this, allowing just enough dems to stay in office to provide
a loyal opposition, but eliminating any chance of democrats or
progressives actually running the show again.

I may still move to Costa Rica, right after I figure out how
to afford it.

In the mean time, lets hang in there. I still have hope.

5. I still have hope, too,
and I'm doing all I can from here - ex-pat voter registration drive is in full swing.
Something definitely seems fishy - all the polls on the issues seem to show that people favor Kerry's positions, yet Bush has a small lead. What gives?

4. Probably a <!-- begin whisper -->Civil War<--end whisper-->
Either that, or a police state after the next terrorist incident.

Take your pick.

6. I was just talking about that last night
with my husband. I told him when Kerry wins (notice I said WHEN) I am going to be afraid to go to bed because God forbid I might wake up to see George Bush's mug on my television with reporters saying the count was wrong and he's the candidate that won. I told him I can't take another nightmare like that. And he said that it's been a nightmare for 4 years that we just cannot wake up from.

I think that mental hospitals will fill up to full capacity if he is re-selected in the same way. Seriously, I worry about the more radical people out there. I am a mom so I can't freak out and take to the streets, but there are a lot who can.
