If McCain's new female supporters really just wanted a chance to vote for a woman . . .
Why did they run right past Cynthia McKinney on their way from Barack Obama to John McCain?

After all, McKinney is not a VP nominee, she is at the top of the Green Party ticket. Her views, while perhaps more to the left, are certainly much closer to Barack Obama's and Hillary Clinton's than they are to John McCain's. If these women really cared so much about the issues they claim to care about but just wanted to make history by casting their vote for a female candidate, why not vote for Cynthia McKinney instead of running to the first white woman they could find?

We all know the reason that didn't happen, whether some want to admit it or not.

As Tim Wise so eloquently said, "Your Whiteness is Showing." http://www.counterpunch.org/wise06072008.html

4. I love that essay.
I posted it here a while ago and the mods locked it. It was the flimsiest rationale I think I've ever seen used for a thread lock. The mod said the article could be interpreted as advocating for a 3rd party candidate (McKinney), even though it should be pretty clear that Wise was not doing that at all. What really happened was PUMA feathers were being ruffled by it. Let's see how long it lasts here.

5. Kinky Frieddman says: She(Palin) will waltz John McCain all the
wy into the WHite House. McCain is a BIG ENOUGH Man to let her shine
all the way there. Obama was not a big enough man to put Hilary Clinton
on his ticket.

Interesting take.

6. I think that picking Hillary would have been the GOP's first preference, that pick would have
energized the Republican base for sure. Obama made a very excellent strategic choice.

And Hillary/and Bill Clinton have too much baggage.

7. My buddy Kinky is wrong.
McCain picked Palin because he had to, not because he wanted to.
