Important point to be made. McCain wants to deregulate the insurance industry while
offering a gimmicky tax break of $5K per family to purchase already expensive health insurance policies. We saw what deregulation brought us in the communications, finance, and housing sectors. Is cable cheaper? You have to purchase digital equipment now this year. Can you really afford it now? How's your mortage doing now? Do you have an ARM that is hurting you? Oh, I forgot. We haven't even gotten to the FDA and food safety issues or the pharmaceutical industry oversight.

We need to be talking really loudly about this. Will you be better off with McCain in charge? Will you have anything left except debt to leave your children? Will we have a legacy we can be proud of?

2. What infuriates me is that the media has said nary a word about McCain's plan.
I'll bet the overwhelming majority of McCain supporters have NO idea of the details of McCain's giveaway to the insurance company profiteers. More deregulation, less accountability. How much of a gamble are you willing to take on YOUR family's health and financial security?

Insurance companies are regulated by the individual states. McCain's plan would allow you to buy insurance from an out-of-state company, so when the company cheats you out of coverage, you are stuck with dealing with another state's bureaucracy. In many states the person in charge of regulating the insurance industry is a former insurance industry executive. Even in the cases of the most egregious misbehavior on the part of the insurance company, they rarely get anything more than a slap on the wrist.

3. My friends and I have agreed that we would make a point to
talk about this at every opportunity we have and to e-mail it to people. Water cooler conversations, coffee shop conversations, waiting in line conversations, after the PTA meeting conversatins should all include this.

People need to be refocused on their current plight and its impact on their children.

5. McCain's offering a "rebate" that he'll give to your insurance company...not you!
So, it's even worse. And his plan would tax you on your premiums!
