I hope the Palin 'child abuse' thing has legs.
If there's just ONE THING that any mom would recoil in horror from, it is associating with another mom who has been admonished by a judge for engaging in child abuse.

Think about it. How many of you know of a family where CPS has been called? Did you secretly think to yourself or confide to your friend that you just knew something was going on in that house and you're relieved that CPS has become involved?

I spent many, many years as a mandatory reporter. Even after I wasn't a mandatory reporter, there are things you see that you just know ARE WRONG.

I just really hope this thing has legs. I don't care as much about the affair, but boy if this thing is true, it could blow the entire campaign to shit.

(Even more so than the Track and drug story, and the Bristol pregnancy story. Those won't have an impact in much the same way as a person who is on the jury judging a drunk driver is less likely to convict if they've ever done it themselves)

3. an ad by a 527 can give it legs
how many average moms can "relate" to being charged by a judge of child abuse?

8. Exactly. It's a mom's worst nightmare.
A dad's too, for that matter, but generally, people regard the mom as the one setting the tone for the home. Sexist? Probably a bit. There are certainly a great number of wonderful dads who do an amazing job with their children, not to mention same sex couples, but I'm speaking strictly about the women who are apparently flocking to this POS.

5. isn't this kind of "effed" up...like hoping that a child has been abused

9. The story has been published in Newsweek. It's already happened.
The judge admonished the family.

All I want is for the story to truly get out there. I would never wish child abuse on any child. TA, I thought you knew me better than that. :(

10. It's in the past. - it's not the child.
It's the quote that's damning. "Troopergate: Palin Accused of Emotional Child Abuse - Sister Loses Custody Battle". What a headline!

I think a lot of women will stop liking her if this makes the headlines. We just have to make it viral.

6. I do too
But not for political reasons, though that'll be a nice side effect. I hope they can help those kids, period.

They say that the family is off limits. Ok, fine. But you don't have to be Freud to figure out that family is in trouble and those kids are suffering.

13. Wait a minute -- the "child abuse" is Palin saying disparaging things about the rage-aholic BIL?

That's completely BS and will not help us.

Midlo, I think your way off with your support of the family feeding frenzy

15. I don't think this will help us. The kind of people who would vote for her do not believe in
emotional abuse. They are also they kind of folks who will tell you that "every family is dysfunctional."

16. I do. Most moms I know would give a very wide berth to
a woman who had been chastised by a judge for child abuse. Why would anyone want to associate with that?

17. because they do it, too.
Like I said, they don't believe in "emotional abuse" and they are not going to condemn someone who is "just like them" for acting just like they probably do.

18. Uh, no. The only ones who are going to give Palin a pass on this
are the ones who do. The ones where CPS has come to visit.

I only know two women where that is the case and they are both voting for McLoser. All of the others I know here despise Palin and think this is a condescending horrible trick.

This is just the icing on the cake.

19. Are you serious? They will think it is none of CPS's business what a parent SAYS to a child.
Like I said, the do not believe in emotional abuse. I live amongst these people. They will come to her defense.

21. It's not that kind of child abuse
The accusation comes from a judge who said the relatives talking bad about their in-law around the kids was a form of child abuse. Not many people are going to get riled about that. In fact they might think the judge is full of it.
