Ahem. There's, er, some excitement going on over in General Discussion again.
lonestarnot is back telling us to check the Washington Post today/tonight for something about McCain and prescription drugs.

My money's on Aricept to treat Alzheimer's. Guess we'll see in a few hours.

Happy speculating.

34. Usually I'm skeptical, but she's a solid DU'er and has always been a great source of info
I'm willing to hear this one out and see what becomes of it. Since the source is reliable and doesn't have a history of "24 Business Hours" type posts, this could be a major scoop.

6. In the original thread, somebody asked about Vicki Iseman. The OP responded...
something to the effect of "I can't remember".

I'm searching for the post now.

But yeah, I think that's what it is.

22. The OP also said it had something to do with lawyers...
and that "interviews" had already been conducted.

Who would leak McCain's private medical records?

32. Well, it doesn't have to be his records. If he's taking Aricept, someone might have seen him...
take it, etc.

Or there could have been an omission from his released medical records that got a reporter wondering. That, I think, is how lawyers could have come into play.

We'll see soon enough, I guess.

51. I'm assuming that you've never lost a family member to Alzheimer's.
I lost my grandma to it just this last April. She hadn't spoken an intelligible word in 5 years and shit all over herself at least 3 times a day.

Nice.

This place breaks my heart sometimes...

12. Well, first of all, he is likely in denial himself...
Alzheimers is a pretty scary thing. And maybe he has "gotten by" and the truth didn't really reveal itself until the pressures of campaigning came on.

That beings said, if the GOP realized that their nominee was suffering from Alzheimers, would they hide it? ABSOLUTELY!

Now anything less than Aricept would be disappointing.

I don't think Ambien would do it. Maybe some cancer drug.

To a suggestion it could be related to Vicki Iseman.

So that's why I jumped to this conclusion. And, frankly, watching him out on the trail, he looks like it. I hate to say it, because it's going to be hell for he and his family, but he looks like it.

It's just not the type of question you want to raise about your own guy. It's going to scare a lot of people off. And, if this is true, that's probably best for McCain. It's hard to take care of an illness and run a nation at the same time.

Even if you do come back and correct the record later - the initial story will explode across the media. They can't un-ring that bell.

If it is a "Rovian" tactic - then they are much more desperate than anyone could have guessed.

48. Agree
And there has been speculation before about the possibility of altzheimers, or if not that, maybe a mini-stroke or two, at least on the net, to explain some wierd behavior on his behalf.

Ronnie Reagan had altzheimer's, but it is one thing to unseat a popular sitting president, and when he is only showing "signs" that people in the know gave ludicrous explanations for, on top of the media covering it up by not reporting it.

Here all we have is a candidate, and not a particularly popular one at that. And he pissed on the media, and continues to piss on them, so they may have no problem with "uncovering" stuff they have had hints or even knowledge about all along. If there is meat on these bones, and it is an altzheimer drug, McCain won't recover from such truths. Not possible.

Man, what a game politics is.

18. Sadly true. They don't really care if their puppets are incapacitated.
As long as they can mouth the words. Actually, even that doesn't matter so much as long as they can make it appear that they are mouthing the words, and when that fails they can always put together video clips, complete with dramatic music.
