Does the mysterious about-to-break news on Palin
Edited on Wed Sep-10-08 01:05 PM by marylanddem
possibly have something to do with what a Washington Post reporter let slip recently on the Diane Rehm show?
(This according to my sister; I didn't hear it - can't stand Rehm anymore).

All I was told is that apparently the Post is working on a story concerning the numerous various colleges supposedly attended by Palin.
My sister - who used to be a journalist - got the impression this might be big. She said that when the reporter mentioned it he kind of went "uh oh" or said something indicating he'd let some cat out of some bag...

1. It's not about Palin, it's about McCain...

2. That would be nice -- and I like that WaPo is the one investigating it.
I just read the National Enquirer's piece on her kids - nothing to bring down the campaign, IMO. (Just partying, booze, dope) Hopefully this might be something to cut her off at the knees.

3. I think it's something else. Republicans have already shown that they don't care
how ignorant our politicians are, as long as they're republican.

17. Oh I disagree
I think the Republican party elite kinda depend on their POTUS to be more than a little on the uneducatable side.

4. Unless Palin did something terrible to get expelled
I don't think even flunking out or having a terrible academic record requiring frequent school changes will hurt her. After all, this is about a hockey mom and PTA superstar and not about intelligence or ability. Harvard educated experts on the constitution can't hold a candle to hockey moms and PTA superstars.

6. Yeah it would hurt Palin big time. People get FIRED for lying about College
If you say you're a college graduate on your resume...or on job application, you don't get hired or you get fired!!

7. Well, that description of her activities, if it is true, would be a match to McCain.
He was no angel, and certainly not the valedictorian of any of his classes.

Just sayin'.

I doubt it good news for her though. That's not sensible behavior. It's odd. Someone will find what was going on that drove her college hopping.

10. As soon as I heard that she attended 5 colleges in 6 years, I thought "drugs."
The only people I know who needed to leave that many schools in that short a time frame had serious problems with drugs. School-hopping was the usual way to escape the failing grades and ruined reputation that followed druggies around.

11. The official explanation is "weather"
She kept switching schools because she didn't like the weather.

13. Yup - she went from Hawaii to Idaho because she didn't like the weather in Hawaii
I think she said they picked the rainy side of an island (?) in Hawaii, but still, rain has to beat Idaho winters, no?

Weren't she and Todd married during her college years?
Did they have to keep relocating because she couldn't keep herself from ummmm.... banging?

15. Completely off topic. . .
what the hell is up with the Diane Rehms show? Is there a less-pleasant voice in all of radio? Like nails on a chalkboard, but really slow.

22. Not trying to make you feel bad but..
...In 1998, her career nearly came to a halt because of a mysterious speech problem. She took a leave of absence from the show and saw specialist after specialist until, finally, she was diagnosed and treated for spasmodic dysphonia, a neurological disorder. Not one to be defeated, she returned to the show and made a point of bringing attention to the condition....

19. We just don't get it.
We can rip her history, we can prove her a liar, and we can show irrefutably that she tried to withdraw her state from the union. It won't matter. She can smoke dope on stage, sleep with her security guard, or donate funds to Ben Laden. It won't make any difference. The people who are going to vote republican or are dumb enough to consider voting republican don't care. They just don't believe anything Democrats say nor care whether it's true.

The more we indulge in "get palin", the more time we waste. We only have a few weeks to win this. We have to beat mcain, but we are helping him stay hidden while the press reports on palen 24/7. The more they make this about personality, the less people think about the issues. The issues are health care, the war, the economy. And here all we get is a Jerry Springer special looking for personality flaws - flaws that most people seem to find endearing. As we were reminded in Thomas Friedman's column, she's the new Rosanne Barr. Rosanne was the top comedy on television for five years.

palin is a horrible mess of a person, but the country just doesn't care. We are spinning our wheels there. Let's get back to mccain. Let's get back to the problems we will have if he is elected.

would be my question.

of course, that'll be spun as, "she got elected mayor of Wasilla and governor of alaska with no degree, why would she need one now?"

I sure don't.

We need something bigger than that. Something that will STICK!
