Question proposed by Steve Benen of Political Animal.

PS: I think they'd make McCain out to be a weak little coward. And they'd have material to work with, too.

2. He'd pound on McCain's affairs, Dementia, Alzheimer's,
being married to a wealthy elitist. That would be a good start.

3. Do we really want to go there?
I'm thinking NOT.

We can run an aggressive, factual campaign, without lying!

I mean, really.

If we stoop to their level, then we are no better than they are.

My two cents.

7. My dear California Peggy
It's just a thought exercise. Or maybe "thought" is not the right word...

4. He would do what he did to him during the time he was working for Bush.
during the republican primary. Remember the black baby and all of the other trash thrown at McCain in SC.

5. Well, in 2000 Rove actually did smear McCain, didn't he?
Did the "whispering campaign" questioning McCain's sanity due to being a POW and that his wife had an interracial child due to an affair.

6. I could never answer that question! I understand his phylosophy,
and the strategy he uses, but there's no way I could ever think like him! ie: I would NEVER have thought of placing devious phone calls against McNut using the "What if you found out McCain had a black child out of wedlock?" I would never have thought of telling provable lies about Kerry's military career! The man is a social deviant. I can't think like him, and I DON'T WANT TO!

9. JOHN MCCAIN WILL DRAFT YOUR KIDS FOR A 100-YEAR WAR!!
Oh, and he'd run it 24/7 and pay his media shills to "analyze" it on all the news programs.

Too bad that our strategists still think they are playing in the Junior Leagues.

12. If Rove worked for Obama, McCain wouldn't have a career left.
We'd be hearing over and over how McCain committed treason against his country. Turncoat Johnny has lived a life full of privilege and has struggled (and failed) to outdo his forefathers. The more you analyze his life, the more like Dubya he is and that's just pitiful.

17. it's true
No. 1 on the ticket should go against No. 1. For Obama to attack Palin just gives her more press and it elevates her. Let her get her own press coverage.

16. Obama would never allow it - or the tactics, which is why I respect him
The republicans allowance of this disgraceful campaign is part of why their so horrible.

If Rove were to be running Obama's campaign, then McCain would have his affair shot across the bow at least 10 times. Biden would have been accused of murdering his first wife and daughter. Cindy McCain's drug use would be common knowledge to any 8th grader - even though they can't vote. Palin's affair & daughters pregnancies (notice plural) would be fodder every day until the election.

The only thing Rove wouldn't do if he was running the Obama campaign would be to talk about the issues.

18. McCain has two strong points the POW thing and
his perceived Maverick reputation. Karl Rove always goes for the candidates strong points. If I remember right back in 2000 they portrayed McCain as being mentally unstable because of being a POW. I believe Rove was also behind insinuations that McCain co-operated with the enemy. If you think about it, yes McCain was tortured but he gave in and even made videos for the enemy. If I would have been in his position I would have done the same thing, that wouldn't make me a hero. The true heroes were the ones that didn't break down and lost their lives. Look at what Rove did to Kerry he went after his military record.
