Corporations paying for Arnold's appearance tonight
Of course, he's still an actor for hire....
but did you think the networks were doing
the hiring? Need ratings? And as someone pointed
out (was it Jon Stewart?) how much can it
cost for a plane ticket and hotel room?
Not $350,000 unless you get your own plane
and showgirls to go. Terminate this sexual
molester.

Corporate Send-Off for Schwarzenegger
By JOHN M. BRODER

Published: August 26, 2004

LOS ANGELES, Aug. 25 - The trip to New York by Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger ofCalifornia to address the Republican National Convention is being financed by a variety of major corporations.

Mr. Schwarzenegger, who is scheduled to speak in a prime-time slot on Tuesday night, came to office promising to rid Sacramento of "special interests." But he has accepted hundreds of thousands of dollars in contributions from companies and interest groups with business before state government.

Schwarzenegger aides said Wednesday that the estimated $350,000 cost of his excursion to New York next week would be underwritten by a number of entertainment, pharmaceutical, oil and telecommunications concerns with major business interests in California.

Among the corporate sponsors of Mr. Schwarzenegger's trip, according to a list provided by the governor's office, are Fox Entertainment, NBC Universal, News Corporation, Paramount, TimeWarner, the Walt Disney Company and Viacom. Other donors include Abbott Laboratories, Amgen and Pfizer, ChevronTexaco and Conoco Phillips, and Outback Steakhouse, SBC and Visa.

Two important entertainment trade groups, the Recording Industry Association of America and the Motion Picture Association of America, also contributed toward the trip. The two groups are also sponsoring a tribute to Mr. Schwarzenegger in New York after his speech.
(a tribute for what? borrowing billions more dollars for Caleefornia?)

2. Boy am I nieve idiot! I thought these guys did this for themselves!
I knew they did it for personal enhancement, and not because they totaly supported the candidate, but I didn't realize they were PAID FOR IT! WOW! It really isn't a convention is it? It's just a coreographed show.

5. NO! I believed they did it FREE! Just for the publicity!
That tells me that it doesn't matter which "Hollywood Star" appears, nor who they appear to be supporting. I suppose it goes to the highest bidder!
