We vets need to WEAR our decorations at rallies, tabling, precinct walking
and so on.

I know it goes DEEPLY against the grain for most of us. Hell, if you watched the Dem convention, you'll know it pained Kerry to have to use this issue in his campaign.

But we have to get across to the nation that Democrats ARE patriots, and that smearing the record and decorations of one of us is an attempt to do this to all of us.

So, from here on out, ALL the gongs go on when I'm doing anything for Kerry/Edwards.

Who's with me!

5. I've only got an overseas ribbon, and a good conduct medal.
...and the rainbow Army service ribbon (I think that's what it's called). Pretty lame, but about the standard for peacetime in the 80s. So if none of you Vietnammers and Desert Stormers laugh at me, I'm in!:D

9. I always wear them at rallies....
marches, and when I set up my voter registration tables. Its a pre-emptive defense against those who would question my patriotism.

11. My husband's Vietnam service ribbon bumper sticker is right next to his...
...Kerry For President Sticker.

His "Buck Fush" sticker is all by itself, on the other side of the bumper.

12. It's what all the members of IVAW did during the march Sunday
I had the honor of marching with the recently-formed Iraq Veterans Against the War (http://www.ivaw.org) on Sunday, and almost all of them wore uniform articles and ribbons. I myself wore my ARCOM and AAM medals.

It was amazing how many of the people along the street not participating in the march gave the veterans/servicemen/families groups thumbs up, or even rushed up to thank us, along the route.

15. Wow that DOES go deeply against the grain
I'm sporting my Veterans for Peace teeshirt at rallies. http://veteransforpeace.org/teeshirtspics.htm

I didn't even know you could wear your medals on civilian clothes ... I guess it's not something I ever put much thought into.

17. Most of the VFW and VA types I know wear mini-medals on their hats...
So, that might be a way to go, too.

We just can't let the RW think it's completely co-opted patriotism and military service.

16. lol..
I'm making my partner get a 'Veterans for Bush' bumper sticker for his truck. And whenever he brings-up politics to strangers, he always manages to fit-in the fact that he's a veteran who supports Kerry. It's smart politics. :)
