Purple Heart Bandage at RNC - I just talked to a 3M bandage rep
Edited on Tue Aug-31-04 01:47 PM by jean
about this. She is a Skin Health line rep. She googled 'purple heart bandage' and was shocked - they had not heard of the story.

Her search came up with a metrospy.com site...she said "BLAND aids? what is that...not band aids..."

Anyway, maybe we can search for these bandages online and find the source.

She said to google 'purple heart bandages' or 'purple heart bandage' and not to use band aid or band aid, since that's a brand name.

I told her the outrage this is fomenting and suggested 3M do a press release distancing the company from this demeaning stunt. She is going to pass the info up to her supervisor.

3M hadn't heard of this until I called and complained - what other bandage companies can we alert and ask for press releases from?

edit: I just tried calling metrospy.com - their phone number is 909-356-5354. An answering service answered - said the order phones are busy and to call back in a little while. I couldn't find the bandages on their site - metrospy.com. They have loads of anti-Kerry stuff.

4. What's their number?
I would like to call and encourage them to do a press release also. Or would doing so just draw too much attention to their stupid stunt?

I don't think there's such a thing as too much attention here
This is a black eye for the Repugs. They'll try to bury it as fast as they can. I think any way to rub it in and keep this story in front of the Murikan people is a good thing.

11. 3M Skin Health support line - call 800-537-2191 You are offered
options, press 1, press 2....just stay on the line and wait for the operator.

I told her I wanted to talk to someone about bandages - got put through to the Skin Health support line.

The woman I talked to was (not sure of spelling) Jenna, Genna - something like that . She was young and computer savvy.

15. KEEP CALLING!
I talked to the media department. One woman said she just wishes they would focus on the issues, not what happened 35 years ago.

We can have an impact!!

17. Brilliant point, Myrina! Thanks to you I called j&j's trademark dept
Earlier, I called metrospy.com's order number. The rep said he understood that the delegate took a band aid brand band aid and applied a separately bought purple heart sparkle sticker.

I asked - ooh, so I could make my own?

He said - yeah. But wait because by tonight we'll have made the decision to sell one on the site. It'll be a band aid sticker, WITH the purple heart printed on it.
