Job's report due out on Friday: Expecting 160,000 created. Agree?
The job report is due out on Friday. Economists are predicting 160,000 jobs will have been created. Anything less will be disappointing.

July saw a pathetic 32,000 created and Kerry was all over it.

If August turns out poorly, Kerry needs to hammer this HARD.

Anyone guessing how many?

I am thinking better then July, about 85,000 but nowhere near 160K.

6. Your figure of 85k sounds about right.
But well beneath what needs to be created to get America back to work.

After all, they can't have bad economic news coming on the heals of little caesar's big speech to the faithful!

12. I expect a loss, many packages are finally depleted from layoffs and
now they'll request unemployment.

20. When you get laid off, many times you get a "package," "Severance"
although, I like 'package,' it's more fun to say. Anyway, say you get 6 months severance and you still don't find a job, you apply for unemployment, therefore the numbers go back up. One person's unemployment runs out, one person is signing up, but neither of them have a job.

13. if one wal mart job gets added
bush will again say we're headed in the right direction and we're turning the corner and all of his followers (half the country?) will scream for joy and shout hallelujah.

I read on CNN's site earlier today that consumer confidence is down.

15. I'll guess low...
Maybe 50,000.

What I really wonder is if they follow their pattern, and revise July's 32,000 jobs down to something like 20,000.

16. If the number is low
If the number is low (below 150,000), don't look for it to be released with much fanfare. If the number is high or can be made to seem high (greater than five), it will be leaked early to make Stupidhead look good.

27. They were expecting 225,000 in July
And I'm sure they were expecting more for August then 160,000 but I guess that sounds like a safe number, considering.

29. I think it may be very weak. Possibly even a job loss.
The economy is growing at below 3% and the July employment numbers for both the manufacturing and services Institute for Supply Management indices declined in July. And there has not been any significant upward movement in either the average workweek or hourly earnings in the last few months.

30. Hard to say...
School jobs will factor in. My child's school is still hiring teachers for all the unexpected kids who showed up. Still though no where near what is needed. I'll go with your estimate:)
