Pappy Bush: RNC War Protesters "hurting men and women in uniform overseas"
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,130672,00.html

Bush 41: Some War Critics 'Beyond The Pale'

WASHINGTON — Against the backdrop of the USS Intrepid, former President George H.W. Bush told an audience of veterans and supporters on Monday that much of the complaints about the war in Iraq by protesters outside the Republican National Convention are hurting the men and women in uniform overseas.

"They say talk is cheap, but the consensus of some of those marching around here is it isn't just cheap, but it also has the effect of making the mission of our young men and women much more difficult," Bush, father of President George W. Bush and a World War II veteran.

In a rare public criticism of his son's war detractors, and presumably Democratic-leaning columnists writing about the election, the elder Bush said, "Some people, good Americans, can and do disagree. But some of the commentary, the attacks … go far beyond the pale."

But Bush's analysis remained limited during a tribute to veterans that was much more restrained and less raucous than the veterans' rally staged at the Democratic National Convention in Boston last month. At that event, veterans whipped up the audience and former Sen. Max Cleland disparaged President Bush's service in the National Guard.

You were smart enough not to go into Iraq so why can't we say the same thing about your son? And anyways if you had half a brain the Gulf War I would have been unecessary..... Finally the bullets are killing the soldiers not the protestors...

4. Oh sure
Babs said she would not bother her beautiful mind with images of flag drapped coffins. :argh: These two and all they have spawned, are simply smelly rich turds who view our troops as pawns in their greedy quest for money and power.

12. Babs Bush Children's Hospital
I was talking with a friend of mine whose grandson had been in the hospital in Portland - named for this mother of Satan. He said he was afraid they'd have to scan the poor child to make sure nothing was implanted while he was there. :)

5. Oh, f*ck you, Pappy....
Your ass-monkey son's henchmen think it's cute to degrade and deride our nation's medal for combat wounds, and protestors wanting our troops home are HURTING them?

For being dead, Benny Hill looks great in a white fright wig.

Aaaah, I feel better.

I can't stand either one of them.

I remember protesting the war in '69 and '70. I remember that exact same thing being said of us then. We were hurting our troops in Nam. We were playing into the enemy's hands. We were unpatriotic.

I also remember protesting the war but, at the same time, taking part in blood drives for the troops. I was in college and a lot of that blood was probably tainted with Schlitz but we were far from unpatriotic! My friends were going over and dying in an unjust war - just like now, only now it's my friends' kids and grandkids who are dying.

George Bush, you can kiss my Irish-American ass!

9. And the purple heart band aids? How does that help the troops, Poppy?
@#($@&)#@%#**@)#&!@)#* creep.

Protesting the lying scum that sent troops into a war even Poppy thought was a bad idea, considering the circumstances, like no real allies to help, is good for the troops. Getting the lying Chicken Hawks out of power helps even more.

Using military personnel as a means of covering up robbing the US Treasury is "hurting men and women in uniform overseas" and hurting their families here stateside

Gee, if Babs & Poppy had had better parenting skills, how much better would the world be today?

10. Bull
whenever I hear this drivel, I start telling people how Bush has "supported the troops":

1. Cut benefits to disabled vets when the initial funding for the war was made

2. Cut benefits to military dependents.

3. Cut combat pay-that was the real "mission" that was accomplished

4. Makes wounded soldiers pay for their meals in the hospital.

5. Broke promise made to vets in 2000 to restore medical benefits to retired career soldiers.

THEN I tell them about my brother, and my voice starts to raise as I end with my final zinger-
"How many years in Viet Nam did Bush and Cheney serve? How many of their kids have volunteered for Iraq?"

People never have a reply for me.

13. Where is outrage over the Swiftboat ads and Purple heart bandaids?
Does he think the military is getting a morale boost from the Swiftliars attacks and the delegates mocking Purple Hearts?

So now we are supposed to feel sorry for babyBush, he is being subjected to all these unfair attacks from Dems. Yeah, right.

19. It's not just the bandaids, it's the "joke" that went with it
Notice that Terry McAulliffe "reacted angrily" but Ed Gillespe didn't have one fucking thing to say about it.

Texas delegate Pat Peale wears a bandaid with a purple heart on it on her chin during the first day of the Republican National Convention in New York August 30, 2004. Democrats and Democratic National Committee (news - web sites) Chairman Terry McAulliffe reacted angrily after seeing Peale on national television appearing to mock the Purple Heart ribbons awarded to Democratic presidential nominee Senator John Kerry (news - web sites) in Vietnam. Peale was quoted as saying she had gotten a purple heart earlier in the day 'swimming a river I think it was.' REUTERS/Robert Galbraith
