AP's Ron Fournier: "Kerry Will Buy $45 TV Time in 20 States!"

By RON FOURNIER

AP Political Writer

NEW YORK (AP) - Previewing its fall strategy, John Kerry's presidential campaign will buy $45 million worth of commercial time in 20 states through Nov. 2, including cable television and advertising geared toward minorities.

The buy is timed to coincide with the conclusion of President Bush's nominating convention as the Democrat seeks to curb the Republican incumbent's momentum. The first spots will be broadcast in just 10 states, which were not disclosed by the campaign.

Spokeswoman Stephanie Cutter said Tuesday that the purchasing strategy calls for the remaining 10 states to be added between now and Nov. 2.

The states are: Arizona, Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Michigan, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Mexico, North Carolina, Ohio, Oregon, Pennsylvania, Washington state, Wisconsin, West Virginia, Maine, Minnesota, Arkansas, Louisiana and Nevada.

1. Here we go folks.
I told you, this is the beginning of the huge reversal for us. The only thing that scares the shit out of me now is the voting machines and the potential for a fraudulent election.

3. Wanna change your title ?
It looks like Kerry's buying $45 TV Time which will probably get him 15 seconds on the Home and Garden Channel at 4 AM.

Odd strategy, that.

:hi:

4. Louisiana...interesting
I thought that was a solid red state. Maybe they know something we don't. Getting colorado would be huge, maybe we they shouldn't have that amendment splitting the EV's anyway.

6. Louisiana
If polls start to show Louisiana within eight or ten points, it's winnable. despite the best efforts of pollsters, Democrats almost always do better on election day than the polls suggest - the gotv effort especially in new orleans is often amazing

7. Good buy
-Glad to see MO, AR, LA on the list...there had been some talk of pulling back
-AZ, CO, NV are all very good buys. Bush is vulnerable in the west.
-Sorry to have to spend much in MI, IA, WI, MN those should be as firm as CT and NJ by now but we need 'em so we gotta go get 'em
-OR, NM, and WA are pretty solid Kerry - need some stroking. Not much.
-need to firm up ME and NH in New England (see above)
-PA, WV, OH - obviously critical. Win those and it is unlikely Bush can survive
-FL - duh!
-NC is fine to go after but disappointed the campaign is not trying for VA also
Still a good list and a good buy.
