Nader Gets on November Ballot in Florida

Independent Ralph Nader (news - web sites) will be on the November ballot in Florida, where four years ago his candidacy is widely believed to have cost Democrat Al Gore (news - web sites) the presidency.

The Reform Party, which had endorsed Nader in May, submitted an application to the state's Division of Elections on Tuesday to place Nader and running mate Peter Camejo (news - web sites) on the ballot, one day before the deadline.

"We accept it, it will go to the governor, he will certify it, and the names will appear on the ballot," said Jenny Nash, an elections spokeswoman. The governor is Jeb Bush, brother of the Republican president.

1. Nader told the Reform party that he didn't want to appear on their line.
He said a party endorsement would be out of character with the issues he's running on.

This is something Nader doesn't want, last I heard.

Sort of gives you an idea of what the Reform Party is all about.

Remember how Bucchanan wrestled that nomination, and then conveniently got too sick to campaign.

4. It gives you an idea
what Nader is all about also.

Nader was perfectly willing to take the endorsement. His one and only goal is to keep Bush in the WH.

7. No he wasn't. At the time of the endorsement he said that it was...
...incompatible with the issues he's raising.

He didn't accept the nomination.

5. They can't force him to appear on the ballot for their party, can they?
You'd think forcing someone to run for president for your party wouldn't be allowed.

6. It looks like the State of Florida thinks it's OK.
Nader's all about ballot access this year. Now he's going to have to sue to get his name OFF the ballot.

I don't know what the Reform Party rules are, but Nader hasn't even accepted this nomination.

Some Democrats should start a party in Michigan and get Nugent & Kid Rock on the ballot ticket.

2. Well, I'm not happy, but we'll deal with it.
I don't think the peoploe of Fla want 2000 to happen to them again!

On a bright note, he's not on in Pa. I think that one is more important.

3. Nader Negotiating Terms Of Endorsement

I'm OK With the ass kissing part,
but do I really have to get on all fours?
Fine. But It's going to cost you 50,000 more signed petitions.

9. He didn't seek and didn't accept their nomination. My question is,
why aren't Democrats doing the same thing? Why aren't we putting RW'ers on ballots in close states if RW'ers are putting Liberals on the ballots?

11. Is Camejo hispanic, by chance?
Or maybe NOT by chance?

Is it possible he'll pull some of the Cuban vote from *?
