local?
In addition to thinking about how to get Kerry a win, don't forget to think about all the state and local battles that are on the ballot this fall.
Anyone have any examples of things their fighting for?
I'd like to see an end to casinos. I'll be voting against all the casion-related initiatives and proposals.
I can't believe that the government thinks they can provide services by setting up a for-profit money transfer system that shifts money from people who need that money to people who bring little of value to society (and actually create a great deal of misery) and that the small % the government takes in taxes on that transfer is supposed to make up for all the money those people lose.
I'd rather see my state invest in small businesses through some kind of investment fund, and take a % of the wealth that changes hands when willing customers buy things they rationally want and need, and which create value for both the consumer and the seller (not things to which their addicted and which extract a huge cost), and then uses that money to provide a decent safety net and a good infrastructure so that more and more people can participate in society in a socially productive manner.
Know what I mean?
And you?
