17. Bob Dole Is Not A War Hero.

I'm sick of everyone (especially the press) treating Dole as if he were a war hero. He isn't. He got his first wound from his own badly thrown hand grenade and he got his second one crawling out to help a guy -- not while engaging the enemy.

Ordinarily, of course, I would never make a distinction between Dole and a REAL war hero (like George McGovern) -- ordinarily, I would consider anyone who was wounded while in uniform to be deserving of honor and respect.

But no more.

Ann Coulter insults Max Cleland and dismisses his awful wounds as being unimpressive and unimportant, simply because he was wounded by his own hand grenade. The Smear Boat Liars dismiss Kerry's legitimate wounds as not being valid because they weren't grave enough, or because they weren't (for certain) inflicted by the enemy.

By that standard (the GOP standard) Bob Dole is no war hero. He is a bumbling fool who couldn't keep his ass down. He probably prolonged the war by his useless and foolish actions, and he ought to be ashamed of himself for cashing in on his phoney wounds all these years.

Bank on it: That's what Rove would be saying if Dole was a Democrat.
