The Bush "girls" are a disgrace!
Isn't this awful...just awful, awful, awful. As a parent I would be humiliated that my children were this terribly stupid...clueless and arrogant. This is what the President of the United States has raised...what a pity...what a mess he's made...but then, what's new? And this crowd of idiots is cheering these sweatty, nasty girls like they have done something with their lives...these are truly two children who sould be left behind!

I am not saying this because her father and mother are democrats. Bush's daughters are not doing it for me. They are brain dead.
They have not been coached well. They forgot their audiance is "coservative." Speaking of being drunk and sex and the city is just plain dumb in a public speech ;especially if the audiance you are targeting are in small town america!

I hope they grow up and wisen up for their own sake and not anyone else's.

They're young women. They aren't the most intelligent nor mature 22 year olds I've ever heard.

But, I was thinking, they probably were forced into doing this and just read the wrods they were given. It's sad really.

12. Old fashioned again
I just can't imagine talking about anybody's children that way. Leave those young girls out of all of this! And by the way, they HAVE done something with their lives. Graduating from Yale and the University of Texas is something to be proud of. Maybe we don't like their father's presidency, but that kind of talk about two 22 year-old kids should be repudiated by all. Then again, I think I am too old for this forum if most think otherwise.

17. I think the problem is
that the children are making themselves a part of the campaign. It isn't like they are young children, unable to speak their minds.

For better or worse, the children that are campaigning for their dad/stepdad are putting themselves out there for criticism.

Now the Kerry/Heinz kids and Cate Edwards come across as very intelligent and well-behaved young people. Hell, just to prove this isn't partisan, I think even Mary and Elisabeth Cheney are better behaved and dignified than the Bush girls.

I actually agree with her on that count.

Saw them on GMA the other morning. It was terribly uncomfortable to watch.

But they told a tale of having friends sleep over as teens. In the morning they said their mother would come in and their friends would think, "why did we sleep here?" Their mother would then tell them that there were some photographs in a lower drawer that needed organizing. They thought it was funny but were groaning at the same time.

Huh. . .? Was so telling. Gee Laura, are we just a tad anal compulsive and a bit of a control freak. . .? I feel sorry for these girls truly.

My kid has had tons of sleepovers. They always stay up way too late. That's the whole point of the event. In the morning most mother's with a lick of sense know to leave them alone until they become vertical and then just say, "let me know when you're hungry."

Can you imagine, bothering a kid with an inane chore in front of their friends. Sheeesh.

Couldn't believe it.

Part of me respects the twins for being autonomous young women in a family of power merchants of death.

They just enjoy themselves and to hell with public image and politics, y'know?

It's that early adult phase of somewhat self-destructive rebellion and seperation from dominant parents that can save you from suffering as a shadow of your parents. That's what happened to * and it nearly killed him with booze combined with cars and planes. Now it kills his enemies and infidels...

(So George, How Do You Feel About Your Mom and Dad? Psychiatric History of Junior)

I hope the twins get healthy and find a way to cope with the horror of the murdering family they didn't ask to be born into.

and boy, did they all suck! It's been hard to stay awake. The last time so many bores were assembled under one roof, NYC's inspectors evacuated the building.

Tonight seemed more canned than last night's Sinatra clip. I guess it had to be because the theme was "People of Compassion." Lord knows, with that crowd they couldn't possibly bring that one off live.

I sensed a lot of defensiveness tonight from those at the podium, twins included. That's good, very good.

Santa's coming early this year, I think.

65. There is another thread where they said Wolf Blitzer was
going after them and Jeff Greenfield said the writer will be fired.

70. I heard someone (CNN I think) say they were awful
This guy said all reports, from both sides, panned their presentation.

68. I was ROFL when Laura said
My husband is the very same. Not changed a bit since I met him at a BBQ years ago...Does that mean he is still drinking and doping Laura?
I thought he changed at 40 when God told him to.

72. They were turning their back to see themselves on screen

It would be generous to say they were pathetic.

Whoever decided to let them on that stage during prime-time is the Kerry campaigns best friend tonight.

74. does anyone doubt they will cash out just like daddy did riding poppy's
coattails? The Oysters are fair game if you believe this. They are shucking and jiving with the hope of landing book deals, endorsement etc. That is why they are deserving of the cameras and the poison ink. Fuck 'em. Their shills.

They aren't very polished public speakers, but you think they would have been given better material.

82. I've never been critical of the twins before...
but damn, watching them was so embarrassing it was painful. Horrible delivery, giggling throughout the speech at their own lame-o jokes, just horrible.

The Kerry daughters were funny and charming and intelligent. There is no contest.

Most of the freepers admit their speech was terrible, but some of them are deluding themselves into thinking that younger voters will like it. I'm younger than the Bush twins...trust me, it takes more than references to an Outkast song and other assorted lame pop-culture jokes to sway me. Most young people aren't that stupid to be impressed by that idiotic speech.
