... but they both gave great speeches, in the eyes of those Republicans. You can just tell.

Liars, liars, liars. Arnold saying his Republicanism came from that paranoid, amoral criminal, Richard Nixon ... talking about being afraid his NAZI father would be hurt by the Soviets ... the whole girlie man bunch of crap. But he was a very good actor in front of the TelePromTer, unfortunately. Hit all the rah-rah-American pulse points. He'll rally the troops for Bush.

And Pickles. Dear, subservient Pickles. Dear little wifey wife Laura. They just love her. In her pale-periwinkle suit -- the good little GOP wife. The anti-Hillary. Good little obedient Pat Nixon. Lying about why we're in Iraq, and about George's agonizing over his decision (which was made by the PNACers in 1998!!!!!!)

All bullshit, but, in the Pugs' eyes, well delivered by their heroes.

1. Republicans will be voting for Republicans, probably.
What will the undecided voters take from their performance? Dare I say, nothing.

And that's all that matters.

2. Wasn't that just amazing?
I mean the absolute hypocrisy of it all? It never ceases to amaze me at how they turn the negatives into positives (Nixon, the economy). Too bad for them that only their base is listening...and falling for it!

:wtf:

3. Who's watching this stuff? Us and them
They're getting their egos massaged. I mean, you have to feel sort of sorry for them because Iraq is a disaster, the economy sucks, the dollar is on the verge of collapse, unemployment is high and getting worse. They need a boost, and since no one else will do it for them, they have to satisfy themselves.

As for us, we're monitoring their rhetoric, seeing it for the self-serving, sanctimonious garbage that it is and getting either angry or scared depending on the skills and charisma of the particular speaker at the podium at any given moment.

The rest of the country is doing z's, vacationing, watching better programming, or otherwise enjoying their lives.

Does that make us masochists? I don't think so, only cautious, tuning in just for the odd meaningful or potentially menacing sound bite that may swing an election.

Don't be discouraged. If anyone feels that way, give the convention a rest and celebrate your good taste. Otherwise, sit back and enjoy the show, for what it's worth, and by the weekend it will be marked down to move.

4. I believe in equal time
which is why I've been watching the convention.

But looking at those yahoos makes me sick. How they can cheer the BS that's been given to them is beyond me.

Last night I had to turn off Giuliani's speech, I was so disgusted. Tonight I listened to Ahnold, Jenna and the other one, and Pickles, in spite of myself.

Pickles struck me as a typical Stepford wife.

Now, just to be nasty -- doesn't Ahnold look like he's had a facelift?

6. Probably had a face lift, but he's an aging action hero
and if he dreams of a Terminator 4 or a remake of Casablanca, he needs to stay as ageless as he can.

I just wasn't impressed with his delivery, let alone his words. In all I'd say it wasn't a productive night for the Reds, when compared with opening night's McCain/Rudy extravaganza.
