Giuliani, Pataki Meet With Delegations Integral To 2008 Race
http://www.ny1.com/ny/TopStories/SubTopic/index.html?topicintid=1&subtopicintid=1&contentintid=42926

Governor George Pataki and former Mayor Rudolph Giuliani say their main concern is getting George W. Bush re-elected president. But when concerning themselves with breakfast Tuesday, they picked some politically important delegates to break bread with. NY1’s Davidson Goldin has more in the following report.

They were political enemies, but September 11, 2001 made them personal friends. Now, Rudy Giuliani and George Pataki both might run for president in four years.

“People in New York City are very aggressive, so to actually have an audience that appreciates what you’re saying, it really got me inspired. I enjoyed it,” Giuliani said Tuesday morning. Just hours after his convention speech filled with references to 9/11, Giuliani had breakfast with delegates from Iowa, which votes first in the 2008 Republican primaries.

Campaigning for Bush gives both New Yorkers the chance to travel the country, raising their profiles and winning credit from Republicans. The theory goes something like this: the more they're seen with the president, the more voters might think they could be president.
