This sounds like something I would make up out of thin air...
>In one of the military hospitals I visited, I met
a young guy who was in bad shape. He'd lost a leg -- had a
hole in his stomach ... his shoulder had been shot through.
I could tell there was no way he could ever return to combat.
But when I asked him, "When do you think you'll get out of
the hospital?" He said, "Sir, in three weeks." And do
you know what he said to me then? He said he was going to get
a new leg ... and get some therapy ... and then he was going
back to Iraq to serve alongside his buddies! He grinned at
me and said, "Arnold ... I'll be back!"<

Anything's possible I guess.

Has any media type reporter dared ask Arnold, or even bring up the question in general, of where this uber-patriotic one-legged man might be?

1. Actually it is a pretty common sentiment among wounded soldiers
to want to get back to their unit. Or so I'm told.

2. If only it were a common sentiment among reporters
to wonder where this particular one-legged fellow is
and to . . . ask the question. The "story" was very likely
designed to draw a comparison between the mystery man and Kerry.

3. A soldier with such injuries might be

pretty drugged up, too, and not yet fully cognizant of the full scope of what had happened to him.

If he existed, that is. He might be like Reagan's welfare queen driving a Cadillac. After all, Ahnold said Reagan was his hero.

5. The full extent of what has changed in his life

has definitely not sunk in yet. Right now he is on pain meds
and is laying in a hospital bed with lots of people around
to "do for" him. Later, when he is home, and the long hard
work of learning to use prosthetics begins...

He won't be going back. And he will never be the same.
Damn Bush. Damn Cheney. Damn them all to hell.

7. Yes damn them all to hell...
..but will any reporter ask Arnold the name of the man
or even which "military hospital" this encounter took
place in?

9. I gave up on the fifth estate many years ago.

They are wholly owned by repugcorp. Murrow and Cronkite and
even Rather have been replaced by Matthews and Scarborough
and O'leilly. And the print media, which could (theoretically)
give reporters weeks and months to develop leads and check facts
ala Woodward and Bernstein are gone also. They all just report
the pablum fed to them (or in the case of Blair, just make it up).
They are all embedded and in-bed'd with the GOP and they are
ALL racing to the right to try to match viewership of Faux, not
realizing that Faux has already cornered the market on biased
and non-factual reporting. I had some faint hopes for MSGOP
recently, but no. They are whoring for the GOP just as hard as
anyone right now (well, that's an overstatement, NOBODY whores as
much as Faux, but they ARE trying).

Oh well, at least there is the internet, even if WE have to apply
our own filters to weed the bullshit from grains of truth (hence
snopes and their like).
