I'm getting nervous
It looks as if the chimp is getting some momentum. I can't take another four years of his smarmy grin.

Kerry has to come out swinging first thing after the GOPologist convention.

Is anyone else scared (a little?).

1. Nope not scared at all . That convention looks weak as heck .
Compared to the DNC the RNC looks like eveyone was sedated at the door .

14. It's not what it is,
It's what the media says it is.

And right now the media seems to be lapping it up.

2. Maybe I am too optimistic
but this reminds me a lot of the 1992 convention --- weird and divisive.

Maybe I needed someone to talk me down. Those Repukes remind me of a scary acid trip.

They sure are evil.

19. They're much worse....
....than a scary acid trip. I've HAD scary acid trips (c. 1978, walking around Greenwich Village imagining that I'm going to have a heart attack, not fun) and I can tell you this - scary acid trips eventually end, then you feel normal again.

This GOP nightmare will not end if Bush gets another four years. Rove and company have all sorts of nasty tricks planned to ultimately destroy the Democratic party as a viable opponent. They will work for one party rule, count on it. The national Democratic party is headed in the wrong direction and has been since Clinton won in 92 (sorry, I love the Big Dog but he's got to take his fair of share of the blame for this insane move to the center).

31. Yes!
Remember Marilyn Quayle's chastising little speech, about the naughty 60's, and that not everybody took part in the "fun". And then, at the end, GHWB and Barbara brought out all the kids, the grandkids, et al, on stage...to reinforce how fertile the Bushes are...the DNC looked so much better, in contrast.

Unlike Clinton in 1996, GWB has to run from his record. Makes it difficult to have a coherent theme. MKJ

5. Of course...
I'm nervous about it, but I believe in Karma and I have faith.. The American people have nominated a very good man in John Kerry and he made a wise choice in picking John Edwards as his running mate.

We have extremely wise men with experience winning tough political battles helping out at all levels, and even moreso than that we have a dedicated, united, motivated Democrat base.

And if thats not enough, we have the strongest factor on our side.. The Truth.

Have faith... Believe...

6. Not worried at all....in fact, I'm feeling more optimistic after Day 2 of
the RNC because its going so pathetically poor...I have been watching this whole "charade" and after seeing their desperate attempts to evoke 9/11, the giggly twins, Ahnuld's "girlie men" comment etc., I can only say its not going well for them...They are trying so hard, and its not going very well....

I think the polls are bs anyway, but my guess has been that Kerry has been ahead of Bush by about 10 and maybe, bush if lucky, gets a 3 point bump. But, Kerry would still be leading...

They sure as hell weren't motivated to register by Buxh's tax cuts.

I'm feeling scared tonight. What frightens me is that the GOPs are putting their "moderates" up, trying to sway the undecideds, and their platform is so outrageously to the extreme right. Of course, it didn't help looking at DarKers pictures. I'm going to say some prayers and go to bed. Steady in the trenches everyone.

10. Scared?!! After yesterdays debacle!! HA!
Edited on Wed Sep-01-04 03:52 AM by Lovecrafty
I'm actually optimistic now! After that Bush Twin "Beavis and Butthead" routine and Schwarzeneggar's simplistic one-liners, I think the Repukes just blew their load! All we have to deal with now is more terror and fear talk from Cheney! Not to mention Chimpy has yet to speak!!! I'm almost POSITIVE we'll get some hillarious Bushisms out of that! Don't worry! Whatever bounce Bush gets out of this circle jerk revival will quickly die down after the Iraq body count hits that mystical 1000 number! Plus I'm getting some very negative feedback from a friend of mine, a marine, returning from Iraq. He went there gung-ho and ready to kill...he came back a changed man! He said he had to shoot a 12 year old Iraqi boy last month and it has haunted him every day since...

17. Welcome DHC
Thanks for your post and understand this place is regularly bomarded with phantom posts and attacks that makes those without a star and with a lost post count always suspect...especially under 100 or so. And, there's a feeling this place is being targeted by the RNC and its operatives to create all sorts of divisiveness and mischief. Sadly, I believe this is something RoveCo. would do, so please be patient. Express your opinions and it won't take long for you to find a lot of great people here.

As far as the RNC. I think this attempt at a TV show called a convention is nothing more than a vain attempt at holding onto their base. These people aren't worried about attracting new voters, they're just hoping to get all of theirs out. Somehow Rove is of this strange belief there are more of his type than ours and that by dispiriting us and pumping up the base, this is their keys to stealing another 4 years. I don't see it working.

Unless you hear something concrete about dealing with Iraq, the economy, health care and education...and do so convincingly, this regime is doomed...Ahnuld or no Ahnuld.

And I'm not surprised by momentum, but it won't be much. For the same reasons Kerry didn't get a great deal of momentum. Watch the month of September and see where we are at the very end of it.

16. Hell Yes!!!
I'm nervous as hell!
for the first time, electoralvote.com show BUSH winning, and it scares the crap outta me!
As long as they can keep the public perception that the race is "close" they will be able to manipulate the voting machines to produce another Florida, in just enough swing states, to steal another election!

If we had REAL news media in this country I wouldn't be scared...but since we have a propaganda machine that is a Bush cheerleading squad, instead of REAL media...I'm scared as hell!

Reality is not reality anymore. Reality is what the media TELLS US it is...becuse too many people believe them...and perception IS reality.

I am truly afraid for my country. We cannot survive another four years of Chimpy. He's gotta go. I'm doing my part...I have helped 56 new voters register so far. And I'd bet, by the places I have been stationing myself in order to register them...that over 50 of the are Democrats, too!

But, as much as I see how hated Bush is...the fact remains that the public perception is being altered by the media...and thus, REALITY itself...is being altered by the media.

As long as they can maintain the perception that the race is "close" Bush and his cronies will, I'm afraid, engineer just enough screwball tactics that don't show on the radar, to steal another election.

And if something blows wide open...look for bush to declare a RED terror alert in primarily BLUE states, restricting movement, and possibly even voting itself. And then, Bush wins a "truncated" "election" because the RED states all get to vote...

Damn there's just so many Machiavellian possibilities right now...I won't breathe easy until Chimpy is officially gone!!

And I may seriously consider moving to Canada if that bastard wins again...I cannot stay here and continue to let this man pauperize us, and strip away our rights, freedoms, and our human dignity!!

18. I've been nervous since election day 2000
I kept telling myself that I'd survived Nixon, Reagan & Bush I. But, somehow, I had this feeling that things were going to get worse.
I woke up the day after with Dan Rather still on TV, getting hoarse. Why, yes, things got worse. The fiasco in Florida, the Supreme Court & the idiotic media bleating on.

Watched the inauguration on C-SPAN & got at least a hint of the protests & the grimness. Then he took office & began the hard drive to the right, with a new outrage every day.

September 11th & two wars later, I'm used to being nervous. But there's a chance we'll win. Fear, itself, is an enemy.

I'm getting very bored by people starting threads with nothing to say but how scared they are. Have you folks been living in brainless complacency for the last three years? Yes, things are scary. But we're in a fight, here.

22. People are eating this crap up
and the media are shamelessly peddling it. There's not a Democrat in sight on TV. Cable was crawling with Repugs during the Democrat convention. If you think people are too stupid to buy into this garbage, then get ready for four more years. I have never seen anything like this. Every time the media called Bush's "we can't win the war on terror" remark a clarification, there should have been a Democrat saying "Why is it clarifying when Bush does it and flip-flopping when Kerry does it"? This is really getting pathetic.

Keep your head down, soldier. We all knew it was going to be like this. My suggestion would be to turn your TV off for the next few days and shut off the Republican Wurlitzer, then come back when the smoke clears. Which it will, rather rapidly.
