I understand Zell's POV. What's the story with Koch?
As a native Georgian who's watched Zell for years, I can understand Miller's extended public temper tantrum: Miller's skin is so thin that it barely contains his bulging ego and inferiority complex. They don't call him Zig-Zag Zell for no reason. He began as campaign manager for racist/populist Dem Gov. Lester Maddox. He supposedly morphed into a "New Dem" and had a pretty successful career in Georgia.

I'm at a loss to understand former Mayor Koch's defection, though.

Can anybody fill me in?

2. The 'Morph' ...
He 'morphed' into a phony democrat ... a rat inside the party ...

That is a rat that should be tossed out of the ship ....

Koch is a Likudnik first: a democrat comes in somewhere behind gadfly and curmudgeon ...

4. Koch is a Zionist neocon, and a dual-loyalist. He likes the fact
that Bush employs fellow Likudniks Perle, Wolfowitz, Abrams, Feith, et al. It's all about Israel, all the time.

5. My guess, recalling him as mayor, is that the root is love of attention --
Koch really enjoyed the limelight, I think, and enjoys being seen as a "colorful" figure. His support of Bush has brought him some attention, after a long dry spell.

I am paraphrasing from a comment he made yesterday "the only issue we need to think about is terrorism and bush is the man to that job--the other issues don't matter..terrorism trumps everything else"

very annoying...and very stupid
