Forgotten Vietnam, and the new Denials -- Read about Tiger Force.

I am appalled at how many talking heads are repeating the lie that John Kerry's 1971 testimony "called all Vietnam veterans war criminals," while pretending no atrocities occurred at all.

Of course, Kerry didn't say that. Of course, VVAW was about ending the war, saving lives and holding the *leadership* accountable, not about pointing fingers at the soldiers. Of course, anybody who bothered to hear or read the entire testimony, and to understand its full context, would know that.

But what's really unbelievable to me is that none of these people seems to remember that there *were* indeed war crimes committed in Vietnam. All of a sudden, they're pretending these things didn't happen at all. That may have worked on some people back when John O'Neill was peddling it 33 years ago, but it's just pulling the wool over a new generation's eyes to feign outrage at the facts today. We know better now.

It was a difficult, frustrating war, where it was hard to tell friend from foe; the US floundered after the Tet offensive, and aggression, in some cases, became perverse.

The Toledo Blade did a report on Tiger Force some time ago, and is still continuing to write about it from time to time. My Lai was one incident, but Tiger Force was a unit that committed crimes over a long period of time. This is not to say there isn't more still, known or unknown, involving other units or individuals, but this is an example that flies in the face of what they're saying today. Don't let the Joe Scarborough's of the media keep insisting it never happened.
