Its the whole 9/11 thing. Its driving me crazy, and other people, too. mzmolly has posted a wonderful thread (shameless plug):
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x710628 about some things we can do to get the word out, but I'm thinking we need more. (Yes, hundreds of thousands of protesters, and the Bush crew still thinks 9/11 is a positive message for them! Argh!)
My husband and I own a small business, and a few years back we were desperate for some publicity. Not being independently wealthy, we had to get creative: we dressed up in costumes, got "creative" with our press release (on the release of our new product), and took cake for the reporters when we dropped it off. The two of us got a very nice return on this -- several area newspapers were willing to write us up, and we even got a couple of radio interviews.
Fast forward to NOW: Perhaps a little bit of guerrilla theater, with some milk and cookies, is in order. COSTUMES ARE A MUST. Sad and funny lines -- "be afraid! be afraid! be afraid! only the republicans can save us, except on 9/11 and today..." -- mixing the message with entertainment. Short shows to be performed in front of local news outlets during lunch hours when everyone is walking in and out. Cookies given out with joking pleading to report on why Bush's failure to protect America Before, During & After 9/11.
Your average reporter is a nice person. They appreciate cookies. Get the whole dratted building buzzing with "did you see" and "what did you think of that" and maybe someone will THINK ABOUT THAT and write about it, too, especially if they can come up with a "funny, local spin" on it. "Today a small band of people presented an education skit on why 9/11 is actually Bush's fault. They want containers inspected..." Etc.
Suggestions? Ideas? Flames?
