Several keen-eyed observers in the hall couldn't help but notice what appeared to be two clear crosses in the wood design of the podium. Was that a hidden message, linking Bush and Jesus? Was it a subliminal sop to the Religious Right? Or was it a mere art-deco design flourish, more a tribute to the Empire State Building than to Christianity?

It sure looked like a smaller cross on the left front of the podium, a larger one to the right....."Wow! I hadn't noticed that!" Democratic Party chairman Terry McAuliffe declared when someone showed him a color photo of the opposition party's podium.

7. Why does the backdrop look like NY's going up in smoke?

I haven't been watching, but the combo of the twin pulpits and the smoke-choked skyline in that picture is freakin' freaking me out. Is that the main backdrop? Because that image is damn sure intended to evoke the 911 disaster without showing the twin towers themselves. (Just the pulpits with their crosses.)

8. Someone needs to find who built that for them

and get a recorded statement (video) & affadivit stating that the RNC requested the cross be part of the design --- someone, anybody -- can't we find out who made the podium??????
