"We are focusing on Halliburton today because it is emblematic of how this administration governs," said McAuliffe. "Halliburton is a proof point of how whenever Bush is faced with a choice he sides with the special interest at the expense of the middle class."
Senator Lautenberg unveiled a new DNC web video, which highlights a series of clips where Cheney is seen praising and defending Halliburton. The video asks why Cheney often stands up for Halliburton and ends by pointing out that as Vice President, Dick Cheney has received more than $2 million in payments from his former company.
In addition, Vilsack announced a new DNC ad, which will air in battleground states and on national cable networks. The new 30-second ad, which will run the day of George W. Bush's speech to the Republican Convention, highlights Bush calling Iraq a catastrophic success, saying the war on terror is "unwinnable," and admitting that he miscalculated in Iraq. The ad will be available at www.democrats.org later today.
