Montana veteran claims SBV liars signed his name without permission

"Columbus swift boat vet angry about letter

It bothers him that Sen. John Kerry's swift boat history has become such a political hot potato. But he's even more irritated that his name was included - without his permission - on a letter used to discredit Kerry.

"I'm pretty nonpolitical," the 56-year-old Anderson said Tuesday. So, when he found out last week that his name was one of about 300 signed on a letter questioning Kerry's service, he was "flabbergasted."

"It's kind of like stealing my identity," said Anderson, who spent a year on a swift boat as an engine man and gunner.
<snip>
"I don't know enough about Kerry to say whether I will vote for him," Anderson said. "I know enough about Bush that I won't vote for him."

Regardless of political loyalty, Anderson said he has a message he'd like to pass along.

"Don't believe everything you read. All it tells me is there is some politics going on there.""

So, how many more of these 200+ vets that we are accusing of lying actually had their names signed to the letter without their permission? This is outrageous!

Yes, this should go in it, and it should be spread around to through the media blaster.

2. Sue the bastards!!!
This should be front and center on the news. This guy should demand a cease and desist order immediately and someone should push Shrub on this issue yet again.

"It's kind of like stealing my identity," - that's a crime, BTW.
Wonder what the law is in Montana.

4. THANK YOU!!
Alas, political ads are exempt from slander suits. It shouldn't be that way for 527 ads, but probably is.

However, Regenery Publishing is VERY vulnerable to a libel suit, and one should be pursued ASAP for two reasons: first, it would lay to rest any speculation that lack of a lawsuit is tacit agreement that the charges are true and second, that it would allow a team of rabid lawyers to be sicced on Regenery, their liars, their financiers, and eventually the Bush team from far outside the Kerry campaign, removing the campaign of the onus of answering these bastards. I'm sure there are libel lawyers out there who have teams of equally rabid publicists. Kerry needs to do this.

10. WTF???
I copied and pasted text from it just a few minutes ago!
The story was also front page on the print version which is what caught my attention and sent me to their online site to post it here. I'm going to call and ask them what's going on.

18. Ye gods!
How transparent can they be? Did they really think no one would find out about their lies? Or, did they just figure out it wouldn't matter if they were exposed?

I guess I'm naive, but it seems to me that this crap and the bandaids has to backfire on Bush. With Barnes on 60 Minutes, I think we'll turn the tide on this mess.
