So, was the "Bush in a Bubble" thing a joke, or what?
Earlier this week, I read a story about the RNC constructing a special stage on which Bush would be able to address his loyal followers in the round tomorrow night. The story also said they were constructing a bullet-proof, surround from which he would deliver his speech. Was this a joke, or is it really going to happen?

Hoping. Hoping. Hoping it's not a joke.

1. Bush is bubble-icious would be delicious
Already the RNC has given us many gifts:

Purple Heart Band Aids (sick sick sick but should use against them since they started it)

Arnold praising Nixon (remind us again who the Republicans really are!)

The Bush Twins ('nuff said).

3. ROFLMAO! Ku Klux Klansman?
I can see it! Actually, it's a flaming chalice - symbol of the Unitarian Universalist Church.

6. A chalice? The Unitarians? I would've thought a coffee cup,
or even better, a large coffee urn.

7. The special stage part is certainly true
http://www.nytimes.com/2004/08/27/politics/campaign/27convention.html

"Moving to bring a special intimacy to the carefully scripted atmosphere of a political convention, President Bush will give his acceptance speech at the Republican National Convention next week from a small circular stage in a sea of thousands of delegates and other guests. ... The model shows a long runway built out from the stage, ending at a circular platform. Convention officials said that it would take 20 workers eight to 10 hours to build the stage and that they would start their work at the end of Wednesday night's proceedings. Nine wide steps will lead from the audience up to the platform, where the president will stand on a carpet decorated with the presidential seal."

I wasn't able to find anything about the bullet-proof bubble part, though. I did see a post here at DU last week mentioning it, but couldn't find any confirmation when I searched at Google News.

8. I read that too. I see that a band is in the pit instead. I did hear
the staffers say that the big stage was going to be pulled out to the center of the arena so Georgie would be in the "midst" of "his people" when he speaks. Omg. :puke:

I too feel like my chain was yanked over the rising platform thing... we shall see.
