How much of a prize is Zell Miller?
All people will see is just another smug white man with a cracker accent endorsing the chimp. Wow! What a coup!

Miller is nothing on the national stage. Hell, Scaife didn't even bother to buy his rancid book in bulk. No bestseller for Zell...

1. nobody likes a turncoat, a judas
--just as a woman dating a married man can expect that man ultimately to be unfaithful to her, so can the repukes figure that ZM is basically an unfaithful lout. no respect in that.

Strictly economics. He gets a piece of the lime light and a few Neocon dollars. More like prostitution...

6. hee hee, yes, better analogy
--but still it's just a question of loyalty--if he can get bought off that easily he really didn't stand for much to begin with so he's useless to the reTHUGS also.

11. Absolutely....
He is on his way out and is not seeking reelection. Just a way to make a few bucks. If he simply said I am going to be a Republican, then they would have no use for him.....

16. Notice how they really have no up-and-coming figures.
Here's Zell Miller, about to retire from the Senate and dashing off into the arms of the GOP. It's not as though he has any new and exciting ideas.

Look at the line-up! White men over 50, the token female (e.g., Liddy Dole), the token person of color, lots of nepotism. Look at the delegates. Doesn't it look a bit stagnant?

4. Zero Zell
since he blasted Bush Sr., in 92 - this speech tonight seems rather ridiculous. The son is one-thousand times worse than the father.

How dare he continue to call himself a dem, when he left the party long time ago.

14. C-SPAN just played his '92 speech.
The Dems could mine this for some pretty interesting ads. His credibility aside, his '92 remarks were very good.

If we want to -- we got him!

8. Zell is similar to a rat
In street terms, no one likes a rat. The people they turn in hate them, the cops despise them, no one respects them. Everyone distrusts their motives and they have no friends on either side.

Zell will enable them to pat themselves on the back and say, "see, even the democrats hate themselves" but I don't see that he'll impress too many people.

9. This is such a non-issue
He's not running for re-election in 2004 so what's there to lose? He's not running again so he doesn't have to worry about appeasing the Democrat vote.
If he was running for re-election you know damn well he wouldn't be pulling this stunt.

18. News in Brief
Posted on Thu, Apr. 29, 2004

... Zell Miller, Georgia's maverick Democratic senator, said yesterday on the Senate floor that the nation ought to return to having senators appointed by legislatures rather than elected by voters...

Keyes is also singing this song. I'm beginning to see a Republican theme.
