7. She is the woman that cost Gore the election.
Edited on Wed Sep-01-04 05:53 PM by lizzy
A designer of butterfly ballot, so confusing that Gore likely lost thousands of votes in 2000. Now she run for re-election as a supervisor of elections and again, it's a mess. She lost the re-election, but she personally counted the absentee ballots and apparently she counted 6,000 more ballots then there actually were.

8. I think she was

the Palm Beach County elections supervisor. If Dean is supporting her, I think he's backing the wrong horse in this race. In 2000 she proved that she isn't up to the job, and the people were right to vote her out. An election supervisor is like a baseball umpire, you know they're doing the job right when no one notices them.

20. Yep :)
Dean and Lieberman (yes, Lieberman) actually campaigned for Anderson. LePore lost the support of the Dem party and, if I'm not mistaken, actually ran as an independent.

Dean is not supporting her.
He supports Anderson, her opponent, who won the election.
If anything can be recounted, it's the absentee ballots.
Apparently, there about 6,000 extra magical absentee ballots that were counted in Theresa's re-election-and that is 6,000 more ballots than they actually received. Some magic, ain't it? They are re-counting the ballots now, but there is an emergency due to hurricane so ballots will probably be gone with the wind. Theresa had personally counted all the absentee ballots and somehow they ended up with 6,000 extra ballots-wow!
This woman is so incompetent, she should have gotten zero votes.

they saw it as a "vindication" or referendum of the 2000 election.

makes me wonder if the whole thing wasn't planned in advance to kill off recounts forever, somehow. I'm sure Le Pore would cooperate in any harebrained scheme they came up with.

Edited on Wed Sep-01-04 07:59 PM by lizzy
If anything, she gained 6,000 votes. Apparently, they counted 6,000 extra absentee ballots, more than were actually sent in.
She had counted absentee ballots personally, LOL.
They are now recounting those absentee ballots, because they have counted 6,000 more than actually exist.

Apparently, now they also have hurricane coming in, so, I don't know if they will be able to actually recount these ballots as promised.
But if anybody doubted this woman is incompetent beyond comprehension or much worse, that sure proves it.

29. This paragraph:
"The winners and losers of Tuesday's elections are not expected to be affected by the re-count.
Cohen said he didn't think any extra votes went in to actually race tallies but somehow the total number of absentee ballots cast was miscaculated."

If there are 6000 more votes than there should be, then how could the race NOT be affected.

How can any one person screw up so badly!

32. I don' t know why after all the mess
she made in 2000, she is still around to screw up more elections.
She should have gotten zero votes.
As for the absentee ballots, she had counted them personally, it's no surprise they ended up with 6,000 "extra". This woman is obviously is incapable of counting. I wish Florida voters would wake up. Nobody should have voted for her, and this latest escapade only proves it.

23. Well, Zidzi, I can not find a thing on it. Did you hear him say it?
Okay, if he were joking, then I think Randi Rhodes was fooled as well. I heard it, then at first when I heard the 6000 figure, I thought so, too. But then he said "unfortunately", so I thought he was serious.

I could not find any reference to it when I looked earlier. So.....
