We trained our dog Sirius to poop in Cheney's yard on Euclid Avenue in Highland Park (Dallas). I used to see the Cheneys at the Starbucks at Highland Park Village in the morning. I had a grey 1965 Porsche 356SC that they went to to admire one morning. Then they saw the "Texas Democrat" and "Greenpeace" stickers on the back window. A week or so later Dick and Lynn were sitting in the same Starbucks when I pulled up. I saw Dick when Dick saw me get out of the car. He knew that he had known me from another life, and that it was not good.

You see, I had a Pentagon press pass for Gulf War I (I was the Editor-in-Chief of a major aviation publication at that time) and I would sit between Katie Couric (then of DC's NBC-affiliate Channel 4) and Wolf Blitzer (then of little fame at CNN). I would rake Cheney over the coals.

My airline employer had no problem with my dual-role, as long as I did not write about the airline. In fact, we had so many pilots on military duty with their guard units during Gulf War I that USAir actually liked the coverage my magazine provided the week-end warrior/airline pilots.

of those useless assholes who is always saying "why do I have to pay union dues; what's the union done for me lately; I got and keep this job all on my own, yada yada yada". If any of you are union people you know what I'm talking about.
