Anyone else agree that the DNC just LOOKED better than the RNC
Edited on Wed Sep-01-04 08:42 PM by TheDonkey
I'm disgusted by the platform, speakers, and lies coming out of the RNC but even the setup is :puke:

Anyone agree that the RNC just looks disgusting?
Who created that podium?
What's with the jumbotron monstrocity?
What the HELL is up with that shrub special cirlce podium?
Why does it seem so much smaller (audience wide) than the DNC.
... forgot to add, why did the republicans outsource their sign making to preschoolers? This is embarassing to watch.

It really is disturbing and I just needed to rant about it. Looks like shit and the handlers deserve to be fired.

1. Hell yes!
The circular stage is the one where Bush is supposed to be hydraulic lifted from right?

3. Yeah, I'm sure it'll be a giant shell with hydrolic angels floating nearby
I have no clue what the actual point is, except to make the setup look even more chaotic and jumbled.

6. I bet they had that pulpit built -- I am trying to find out who to
contact about this to see if the RNC (Rove) specifically requested that the podium be built this way. I would like to put Rove in his place on that one!

and an iron-clad one at that, yer nuts. :-)

5. The music is so much worse too! I'm so happy to be a Democrat
I'm sorry if this is petty but wow, this is the first time I've poked in to check out the RNC and it's so bland and ridiculous I can't even stand it.

All that and I've not even talked about the actual hate-fests um' I mean "speeches".

8. The DNC was a much more attractive stage and convention. . .
Edited on Wed Sep-01-04 08:20 PM by merh
It definitely appeared more organized that this joke and our delegates were passionate and enthusiastic, not rabid.

The speakers were much more committed and inspiring.

The RNC looks like a jumble and the only thing that stirs the crowd are attacks and bad jokes.

They are some sick repukes :puke:

19. What's up with those tacky signs too? I forgot to mention that too
Who's idea was it to make all the signs at a preschool with jumbo markers. This convention is so tacky it's unreal.

23. GOP is the world's largest pyramid scheme and the delegates haven't
figured it out yet!

The disguises, rationalizations and defenses of the GOP have a similar ring to all pyramid schemes. Perpetrators claim they are uplifting people, setting them free, creating new opportunity, and teaching them a new and better way to live and prosper. As in all such abuses of the past, huge amounts of money are spread to peddle influence, stave off regulation, and maintain the false portrayal of legitimacy. Critics are vilified and threatened with lawsuits as "anti-business" and "losers."

The element of the pyramid scheme that has the most in common with past abuses is its appeal to economic justification. Deceptive practices which take money from millions of unwitting people and enrich a small group of promoters and perpetrators are defended as "legitimate business," helping to build the economy, employ people, and provide economic opportunity.

==================================

Like all pyramid schemes, the lowly members who are suckered into believing in the scheme are not wealthy - the poor schmuck delegates cannot afford real signs, only magic markers and poster board!

It not only looked nicer, it sounded better.

I thought Republicans were supposed to be geniuses of marketing.

Just goes to show where the artists are.

17. C-Span
I watch C-Span. Lots of white folks trying to dance to "That's the Way I Like it". I'm from Texas and it's embarrassing to see all those cowboy hat waving republicans.

Remember the Scene in Caddyshack where Rodney Dangerfield walks around the dancefloor and says "Whoa! The Dance of The Living Dead".. That's the Republican Base, right there.

They're like born-again living dead, over-fed zombies with painfully pink cheeks and too much money for their own good.

16. The DNC backdrop was beautiful - soft watercolor red white and blue
This RNC backdrop makes me feel like I'm on the verge of a seizure. Blue stars bobbing up and down, those weird sidebar graphics in constant motion. The whole thing looks like hell.
