So As Our Economy Is About To Go Into The Dumper - It's Politics As Usual .......
on the verge of economic collapse - could blossom into a depression - we have John McCain and George W. Bush engineering a political showdown in the true style of a Rovian stunt.
I asked a few days ago as to how far are the Repugs and Rove willing to go to keep power - and it looks like they've now pushed it to the hilt.
McCain says - this is not the time for partisan politics - but that is exactly what they are doing - playing partisan politics.
I got to think that if the situation was that dire - they wouldn't be playing these games. The fact that they are playing these games - of got to pass this right now - I'm suspending my campaign - postpone the debates - that they know that the situation is not that critical and that immediate. They wouldn't take the chance if it were - this is purely a political move on their part. They are taking a calculated risk here - that could ultimately play out to their advantage.
If the Dems and Obama call the bluff - and the economy tanks - the Dems get blamed.
If the economy tanks - and it looks like McCain & Bush were trying to save the day - the Dems get blamed.
If the vote goes through without strings - *Co wins again cause they've pressured the Dems to cave once again.
We all know that this is about McCain tanking in the polls; a big Repug loss in Nov - the presidency and the control of the senate and house; and ultimately Bush's legacy.
Couple this crisis with 9/11, Katrina, Iraq War - Bush will go down in history as one of the worst f***up presidents in history. This is a last chance desperate move on the part of Bush, McCain and the Repugs in general.
