Please, some objectivity about Zell
He delivered a powerful speech, right? How do you think it will play? Do you think it will help Republicans rally conservative Democrats and Independents? I was pretty impressed by that asshole and am a little worried, but I'd like some other opinions. Thanks.

1. I think the inaccuracies in it need to be dealt with forcefully in a way
that forces him to explain himself and thereby, discredit himself because he was compelling. He was lying and distorting facts in a very damaging way.

12. I did not watch this speech
I could not...but should I have?!?!! When you say his speech was compelling, I take notice, and it concerns me. Any direction you offer here is very much appreciated. Miller sickens me with his turncoat politics.

If I have to watch a replay of this I will, I need to be informed and prepared.

I still feel great about John Kerry.

Seattle Times endorsed Kerry, and endorsed him early after endorsing b*sh in 2000.

2. Betrayed the voters
He is a Republican! He ran as a Democrat. That's totally uncool. I'd respect him if he switched affiliations.

8. It's was too outlandish, especially since Zell had only 3 years ago given
glowing testimony about kerry.

He seems very capricious.

11. If there is a recording of his speech from 3 years ago it should
be run in an ad.

9. Personally I thought it was powerful
If he was on your side. He said some pretty hateful eman things about Kerry and the Democrats. They need to start fighting fire with fire. I still think not ripping Chimpy to shreads everyday during our convention was a HUGE mistake. Being nice wins you shit in politics. But it seems only Repukes can see that.

13. Well, you got one thing correct...
...Zell is definitely an "asshole".

Zell is a turncoat, pure and simple. I wish he'd get the hell out of the Democratic Party.

14. It played well with the same hateful Republicans already voting for Bush.
Will Zellout persuade any Dems or Independents? Not even. His own Democratic staff resigned because they were so apalled by his behavior and newfound political beliefs.

He seemed very angry, very bitter, and very hateful. I think he imagined himself being a mover-and-shaker in the Democratic party after his appointment to the Senate and once he realized that he wasn't going to be a major player, he decided to switch sides. He'll never relinquish calling himself a Democrat because being a "Democrat" is what gives him this barrage of publicity. If he switched to Republican, he'd just be another hatemonger, and beneath the likes of Rick Santorum, Bill Frist, Tom DeLay on the totem pole.

15. No, that was absolutely not a powerful political speech...
..but it was very effective in putting a memorable sound to an otherwise amazingly boring convention. Unfortunately for the republicans, it's the Looney Tunes...
